Title: Best way to turn Bitcoin into dollars?
Post by: Elwar on September 09, 2012, 10:43:24 PM
I have not planned on selling but need some cash in a few days.

What are the steps to getting cash from Bitcoins? I have about 200 I need to cash out.

FastCash4Bitcoins?

FastCash4Bitcoins has no funds available ATM

MtGox is the only way to go.

will take 2 weeks, but it will get their.

another more risky and faster method would be https://www.bitcoinary.com/

Well FastCash4Bitcoins will have funds available a lot quicker than 2 weeks. :)
We should have more funds available by Tuesday at the latest.

You can purchase a prepaid debit card at Walmart, Walgreens or the like.  You could then load it with a MP you purchase from BTCPak.com.  The transaction is instant if sent from the Mt.Gox green address, otherwise it takes about an hour.

I have used this. It works well.

Camp BX also does ACH withdrawals.

There is another trader who will deposit cash in your bank account if you bank at Wells Fargo, B of A, Chase, and a handful of others but the operator is traveling and the assistant has no access to more funds to trade:

At quantity 200 BTC, your cost for a wire transfer from an exchange like Mt. Gox is not all that high on a per-BTC basis.  I don't know if requests to withdraw by wire are still delayed at Mt. Gox or if they are sending those quickly now though.

ACH is the cheapest, (even through an intermediary like Dwolla), but if time is of the essence, that doesn't work too well.

It is highly important to me that I give minimal personal info to an organization who's data security I have little trust in.  Enough so that I was about to quit PayPal the other day rather than send them a scan of my photo-ID.  (In trying to quit I found that they didn't need it after all, so I am still a customer of theirs BTW.)  I don't mind providing proof of address and my SSN, but biometric info; not doin' it.  And I happen to trust PayPal's data security much more than any Bitcoin related organization that I can think of.

So, what I miss on that chart is an indication of what kinds of info a vendor requires to remove what amount of cash.  Seems like you (Stephen) take an active interest in the wiki (which I highly appreciate) so I mention it on this thread.  If there were a way to add a column to that chart which could illuminate this aspect of things...and be maintainable...it would be cool.

fastcash4bitcoins will need the paypal email addy for that method or account/routing number for an ACH/Wire payment. The paypal method worked well, they provide you with a website to track the progress to ensure they got your coins and whether or not the tx was confirmed or not.

They also pay pretty well. Its about 5% lower after fees from the direct mtgox rate.

Good suggestion.  I'll think about how that would fit best.
