Title: [2015-06-06] bloombergview.com: Welcome to Bitcoin's Boring Era

Here is a characteristic sentence from Nathaniel Popper’s new bitcoin book, “Digital Gold.” It’s about Mark Karpeles, head of the Tokyo-based and now-defunct Mt. Gox:

"He was two years into running the world’s largest Bitcoin exchange, but he still had not attended a single Bitcoin event abroad -- a fact that he blamed on the sickness of his cat, Tibanne, who needed daily shots that Mark believed only he could administer."

The article is so much more than just about Mark's cat. I think bitcoin has gone into a boring phase, though. I remember being so excited when I first got into bitcoin with the crazy rises and crashes but now it's just pretty stagnant with the occasional slight fall. I think we really need one piece of huge news like an industry or massive business accepting bitcoin to get some excitement back into the sphere.

You think those originally involved are being pushed aside?
Wait till Wall Street really gets involved.  :P

Yup... it is quite boring nowadays. When I first bought my coins in 2012, it was quite exciting. A lot of growth was being achieved. In 2013, we reached the peak, when the exchange rate climbed to 2013. But everything got reversed in 2014. The exchange rate nosedived from $1,200 to $300. The reputation of Bitcoin got tarnished by SR and Mt Gox. And in 2015, there is a numbness in general. Most of the Bitcoiners have gone dormant.

If the price is stable it's boring, but if the price goes up it's always too volatile to become a currency.

Calm before the next storm?

I don't understand why people are saying it's boring... They must be boring.  Every day is mor exciting the the last because there's so much work to be done!

Exciting times!

No one will be complaining if the price actually goes up. On the other hand, for the past 18-19 months or so, the exchange rate has been going down. This is creating the "volatility issue". Merchants, who want to store their money in the form of Bitcoins are incurring huge losses (Overstock comes to my mind right now).

Crypto markets are being incredibly boring right now for sure, but just wait until the next stock market crash guys, build up your funds and hold onto your coins.
