2015-06-08 - Rebranding to Vibranium from Fade

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1068458.0

A lot of us have been burned on BCT and to some, these last couple weeks have been the last time that we are willing to take chances anymore. With multiple so called “xdev” newbie accounts being created every day, I have decided to personally implement a proven outlook on these speculative investments.

Zero Based Thinking: Do you have information now from a financial lesson learned that you wish that you could go back in time to change? You can actually do this now by zeroing that loss out of your mind and moving forward with what you know now. It is natural to want to invest more time and money when you feel that so much has been lost. Right now, if you feel like you are regretfully holding a bag, you must ask yourself how to get out and how fast? You can dump what you have now for pennies and try to jump on the next day special from another newbie dev, or you may choose to take a deep breath, and ride it out. You may actually lose less if you just stop for a moment.

Not just expect, DEMAND!!!  So help me god Viecoin, if you do not work tirelessly as free slave labor to put this coin on the moon by this time next month, I'll make sure you never work in alt-coins again!!  :P

Nah, just playing.  I don't have a big investment here, but it's nice someone is trying to build value and not let this one dump into the dirt and die immediately like most new coins have done.  I'll be watching and quietly staking in the meantime.

Thanks guys! I'm at my work right now, but I'm still working for us too. Trying to make time to cleanup the source and re-upload to a new github. This will only be a temporary update because we can't stay at 6 coins per block forever.

when swap from fade to vibranium?

Putting the final touches on the wallet. There will be no need for coin swap. Just wallet update and masternode restart. If you are holding Fade, you are holding XVI. I will contact the exchanges today to let them know about the rebranding. The full change over will occur before block 40k. This will actually knock out 3 objectives on the roadmap, as this will also be the long term version of the wallet plus exchanges will update to the new name/wallet..

You always want to backup your wallet.dat. But yes you will have to move your wallet.dat to the newly created directory.  I will let you guys know as soon as it's ready. Should be by this Sunday, Monday the latest.

No worries. I have the new wallet and source and I'm staking with the new nodes. I will try to post tonight. If not, then first thing tomorrow. The UI is not that pretty, so  I will have a 4k XVI bounty on a compiled wallet that realizes my vision by using the included bkg.png in the new source. I notified the exchanges. Hopefully they update in time for the new pos reward schedule that I will post here with the wallet and source.

If we're staking FADE in the existing wallet, and we download this new wallet, how will our existing FADE transform into this new coin?  Will we have to take everything out of the FADE %appdata% folder and put it into the %appdata% folder on the new coin, then open up the new wallet and our balance will be there?

They can, as this is only a wallet migration/upgrade on the same blockchain. I just have not gotten a response from them or the others yet. I will post the wallet and source soon.

You should not have to, but you can also add these nodes to your vibranium.conf. Old nodes might jumpstart it too.

I can't get any connections to the network either.  I added the two nodes but still nothing.  This is just a straight rebrand right?  The source is still unchanged?

If I remember correctly, this had the same issues that DCC had with taking hours to connect the first time for some people, for some random reason.  I'll leave it alone for a bit and assume it will eventually connect.  I'm sure you plan to fork to a less buggy source eventually, but I understand that will be a more time consuming process.

I see you went with a reward structure very similar to what I had suggested.  Only getting 144 new coins a day will keep inflation insanely low, and early adopters will be heavily rewarded if some value is built here.  When I stop to think about it though, my one concern would be that it is going to be too low of a reward to get people to keep their wallets and masternodes running.  Worry about that bridge only if we need to cross it though.

New wallet looks nice.  Purely from an graphical design statepoint, only thing I'd do is thicken the font on the letters on all the tabs and the "B" is blending into the background in the main logo so that doesn't look too good.  Higher resolution images on the tabs and logo would look better as well.  It seems like you are trying to give off a shiny metal look, but I'm seeing grainy more than vibrant.

The previous 3 sentences were the most nit-picky sentences I have typed in my life.

I contacted yobit to update the seedbit source and he said to send him the source link. I would try that.

I have contacted C-cex and Yobit 4-5 times each. I have not gotten one response from either of them. Somehow I'm not surprised at the lack of accountability. Reminds me of the same xdev teams that that produce these daily coins and ICO's. I would advise you to take your coins off of these exchanges and either put them in your wallet and wait for Bittrex, or send them to Bleutrade before block 40k. After the pos rewards change, no blocks that you find on the old wallet will transfer to the new wallet.

Bluetrade is the only exchange with the decency to reply to my correspondence and upgrade. Please run the Vibranium qt and transfer your wallet.dat before sending to Bleutrade. Any rewards you are getting now are paradoxically useless to the new wallet. If you have not seen this before, try it by waiting several hours to upgrade. You will be short any rewards after block 40k when you go to upgrade to XVI. After you start staking on the new wallet, all will be fine.

You can purchase as fade from Yobit, but I would be careful. I'm sure that 11k sell sitting on Yobit is from before block 40k, as it would take all the coins in circulation to mint that much in short time, even with old pos rewards. Here's a plan. Go to Yobit, Buy a very little fade from that sell wall and send to an old fade wallet. Then copy your wallet.dat to the new XVI wallet and see if they appear. This is the cya method. If someone has a better idea, chime in because I'm at work provisioning a server and my brain is a lil foggy atm. As far as actual trading, please only do this on Bleutrade for now. I have no clue why Yobit did not want to upgrade. Maybe fade was their coin. Or maybe they don't like volume unless it comes from ICO. Thank you for trying to support XVI. I managed to scrape 7800 XVI from the floor but coins may be very few because we are at the absolute bottom now with ~10 btc market cap and only bots or kids dare sell at these prices. Don't fall for fade dumps on Yobit. We are no longer fade. Probably just exchange owners dumping stake interest that won't carry to the new wallet. Remember any pos earned on the fade wallet after block 40k won't make it to the new XVI wallet. We are on block 44013 as I write this.

There are only plans to decrease the stake reward. And further decrease by introducing XVI to new users outside of bct with my upcoming application model. And to further decrease through voluntary vie looting, burning and transaction forging. XVI is meant to be rare and finite. I believe early adopters are being rewarded plenty. It is just not that visible for those view rewards as what they can dump for btc. I'm not thinking to turn crypto currencies against each other to make fiat. It is the other way around. I want us to make use of being divisible by 8.

I will work on it. I notice location plays a factor too. I had 2 connections on the win wallet and migrated it to another machine and network. Then I had 13 connections. I moved it back again and still only had 2.

I'll be getting access to a laptop that has Fade on it. Once I do, all I have to do is download the latest Vibranium wallet to that laptop, and move the fade.wallet file into the Vibranium appdata folder, and launch the new wallet? Do I need to rename the fade.wallet file to Vibranium.wallet or anything?

Actually the wallet file is called "wallet.dat", so you don't need to rename it :)

The steps are:
1. Download Vibranium wallet
2. Run it once, so the appdata folder could be created
3. Move the wallet.dat from Fade appdata folder to Vibranium appdata folder (Vibranium appdata folder will already have one, but you are safe to overwrite it).
4. Run the Vibranium wallet, and wait for it to download blockchain and show your coins.

----
Another option would be to just rename "Fade" appdata folder to "Vibranium", then run the Vibranuim wallet. This will allow you to avoid re-downloading the blockchain again. But I suppose the first method is safer.

Good looking out! I have been really busy shopping for dedicated servers. I apologize about the road map not being updated yet, so I will give you a quick update here. I have a Unity mobile strategy game that will allow players to purchase XVI through in-app purchases for upgrades and the like. There will also be ways to loot (steal) XVI from conquered players in the game. The sustained buying pressure will be from the in-app purchases, Which might burn a portion of the coin forever, looting,  a multipool,  masternodes that yield a percentage towards in-app, XVI merchandise that may only be purchased with XVI and an XVI asset based on all of the above with options wagering on specific players or factions. If some are looking to get some XVI, I believe there may be some short term holding remoras that may exit pretty early. If you want to know where I see us going, the Moon is only 1.3 lightseconds away. I'm looking forward to being the first on Orion at 1300 lightyears away. I hope to see you all there with me. Keep your eyes on my avatar. Sorry this won't happen in one week.

It is already several days I am waiting for C-Cex to answer my inquiry regarding FADE market (why it is not renamed to Vibranium, whether they updated the wallet, and whether the coins bought there are legit XVI coins)...  >:(

They have to answer finally at some point, but I am amazed at the level of 'shadiness' of that exchange... They have really great web-interface, but are way too unprofessional and not trustworthy in other aspects...

I will share their answer when they finally respond (and they HAVE to answer, if they consider themselves a legit business).

i see on yobit 1350sat buy order, but on bleutrade selling order is 740 SAT.

People don't know about the rebrand because they probably just left their coins on the exchange, which means coin count will be lower. Also, some of those coins may not carry over if they were minted with old block rewards after block 40k. Very possible if Fade wallets are still seeding. I would be careful, although a very good friend of mine managed to convert 7500 XVI through arbitrage. I really appreciate everyone's support.

Not dead yet friend! I actually updated the wallet gui a bit if you would be inclined to compile it. I apologize for not checking in. Just broke up with my girlfriend of 4 years and in the middle of a move. All the while working full time and working on future game assets. I don't live at the horsefly lifespan of the altcoin announcement forum. Please forgive me.

Set up a node and my node fundes keep getting moved to stake.
Do I need to set up a 2nd separate wallet for the node?

Thanks for any help!

Ok re-setup node with staking=0 in conf file but,
of course, it works for the node but no stakes on
rest of XVI. Can I set up 2 separate XVI wallets on the
same computer? If so, how?

Thanks for patience with the Noob Needing Help.

use different datadir for each instance:
 -datadir=D:\xvi
 -datadir=D:\xvi2
In bat file or in the shortcuts properties.

Happy staking

Nope. Can't have it. I will never let this one go. But you guys are correct. The OP is well overdue for an update. How do you know what I'm doing if I don't update you? I'm sorry. Ok guys, I have been working on our RTS game. I had started skinning and I wanted to get some input on the style of the game. Sci-fi, Mid-evil, etc and any unit types that you might like to see. There will be factions or alliances as well. I have them set as

Miners
Traders
Hodlers
Fudders
Pumpers and Dumpers
XDevs

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you for your patience. This will be a success no matter what the price is now.

Updated the OP a little. Services will start to roll out as block rewards decrease. Thank you for your patience. If I seem absent from here, I'm just busy creating substance for the crowd-funding campaign. My mind is not on the markets right now. The developer seemed to be an honest and serious person. Not sure why did he disappear (actually logged in yesterday, but did not comment). Maybe just no progress was made due to lack of time, hence no update...

I still hope he didn't abandon the project, and just works on it in background. It would be disappointing to see even seemingly reliable people to break their word. I hope (and actually I believe) this is not the case here.

Hmm..Though the developer has mentioned, he is working in the background, he needs to at least post updates once in a while to engage the community.

FADE was finally delisted from C-Cex. Thats ok actually, as they did not collaborate anyway, and wasn't even able or wiling to change the market name to XVI...
So now there are XVI markets on Bleutrade and Cryptopia, and FADE market at Yobit. Not sure if Yobit market is on track with the rest.

I stopped running my XVI node a couple of weeks ago, because I stopped getting connections and started getting weird errors in the console; plus it was taking up a ton of CPU.

I started it up again today and I don't see the errors, but I still get 0 connections. Does anyone have any addnodes that work?

Nope - probably a paid node expired and with no dev - no node - no connection.
I gave up and dumped mine after waiting forever hoping the dev would return or someone would step up

I am running a node and have 3 connections currently. Here they are:
[
    {
        "addr" : "5.9.36.211:40015",
        ....
        "version" : 61400,
        "subver" : "/Haircut:1.0.0/",
        "inbound" : true,
        "startingheight" : 175939,
        ...
    },
    {
        "addr" : "188.165.2.147:36330",
         ...
        "version" : 61400,
        "subver" : "/Haircut:1.1.0/",
        "inbound" : true,
        "startingheight" : 175939,

        "version" : 61400,

        "inbound" : true,
        "startingheight" : 178863,
        ...
    }
]

You can use any of them, or my node at 104.207.131.249:12215.

Not sure where this is going though, as the Dev does not seem to be very responsive now. Don't understand what has happened to that guy :-\

EDIT: one additional advice: you could want to set listen=1 in your config, and open the listening port in the firewall. This will allow you to find more connections. It helped me to find connections on several coins where I got 0 conn before. Also - if you have coins in your wallet, it is better to run staking instead of masternode, as staking will move the blockchain. Not sure which one will get more coins though (staking or MN), but at current prices it is not really important.

Thanks drays! I now have one connection. You can also add my node to your Vibranium.conf: 107.170.196.135:12225 (it's not always running, but it does run for a few hours every day). addnode.link:12215

I had been using listen=1 in my config out of habit more than understanding (question: if we don't set listen=1, does our wallet not listen for new connections?), and I am also running a staking node instead of a masternode based on the same logic you used (we want to move this blockchain!).

Too bad if this coin is abandoned; I liked the tie-in to the Black Panther super hero, and the idea of using it in an RTS game sounded really promising.

EDIT: updated my node address (see my post below)

What seems to be a Superhero most often turns to be a turd :)

Lately I have seen several Devs who seemed to be honest and responsible, told "I will never-ever abandon this", but then just shamefacedly disappeared. I don't like superheroes, as most of them just like to show off. Who promises much, delivers almost nothing.

Anyway... back to topic... Related to your question on "listen=1", I cannot tell for sure, but suppose it allows to get access to the wallets running behind NAT. If you do not listen for connections, you will connect only to the peers you know, while if you are open and listening, some unknown peers could find you from behind their firewalls and NATs. Thus you get more connections. Its the same as with Torrents. If you have real and open IP, you will get much more peers than if you are behind company firewall NAT machine and are not visible from outside.

I am seeing the same thing; Devs who seem absolutely intelligent and honorable, and who disappear without a trace after a month or a few months for no apparent reason.

I was thinking about this phenomenon, and also thinking about how much time I spend asking on these forums if anyone has any addnodes when wallets inevitably dwindle down to 0 connections.

To this end, I am offering up a service: I will host a nodes for coins for a very affordable 0.1 BTC / year. Any Dev or community can afford this, and it would guarantee at least one node running 24/7 for a year or more.

For my test run, I will host Vibranium for free for a year. You can use:

Code:
addnode=addnode.link:12215

Yes, I registered the addnode.link domain for this service. Please feel free to use it in your Vibranium.conf, and please let me know if you see any issues with this node. It should show up as 45.55.157.54:12215 if you enter "getpeerinfo" in your debug window. I would love to hear some feedback before fully launching this service.

If anyone is reading this and wants a node hosted for .1 BTC / year for your favorite coin, please feel free to PM me!

No, just the opposite: FADE was renamed to Vibranium (XVI). However now, when both FADE Dev and XVI Dev have disappeared, it is irrelevant :). Better to say: FADE and XVI is the same coin.

Looks like this poor coin needs new Dev. Anyone?

Wow, thanks for informing about this . I had some XVI on Bleutrade account, not sure what has happened to them. Bleutrade did not send any notification email prior to delisting a coin!! And now the account is missing together with all my coins! ??? If this is how Bleautrade works, looks like I will refrain from using this exchange, and tell everybody to do so... Anyway, opened a ticket, lets see what they tell.

Regarding an exchange, Yobit FADE wallet works well, and accepts XVI as far as I know. I have sent some amount there few months ago, and it worked out. Not sure it will work now, but most probably will. Its easy to check though will small amount.

Yeah I noticed recently that Bleutrade had delisted a few coins that I held, all seemingly without any warning.

I had always thought of them as an exchange that didn't delist coins due to low volume, which is why I felt safe holding obscure coins that they listed, but I guess something has changed. I too will stop recommending them to people, unfortunately.

Thanks for the information about Yobit probably accepting XVI as FADE, I will give that a shot when I get home!

Hello XVI Community,
We would like to present you with one possible solution for all those
who have or had Nodes and supported the coin and tech.
There are a few projects we are working on and one in particular would fit this situation.
We read through the thread, see what has gone on here and wish you no harm.
What I speak is the truth and hope you could consider our offer to work together.
To be honest, we need an aggressive network of Nodes to support some unique tech we have,
and if done right could be suited for more than one project and purpose.
We believe you will be very pleased with the end result.

We may also need to do testing and present changes in the Code.
If there are any here that have done any work on any Node coding PM me direct.

We have setup a tiered structure that will reward those who support this endeavor.
When we meet this criteria of the substantial robust Node Service and Active Community
it will be adopted and we will include You and this Community in our projects.
We encourage all possible reasonable increases in storage/cpu capacity.
If you are a Coder of any type please stick around and check in from time to time.
There will be a real unique opportunity whereby you will be owners of your work.

We are aware of some issues of the existing code being faulty and working on solutions.
Inputs on these or any others would be helpful.
We may either combine all the Nodes into one project or have a few separate ones.
Keep your nodes up and running while trying to rebuild their numbers and the Community.
This is essential.

We also want your ideas and aspirations of where you wanted to see the tech go
with or without you personally contributing to the building.

Feel free to offer incentives to others to setup more nodes.
For those who would like to collaborate and work with us we have an incentive structure
in testing and will include you in this testing of better things to come.
Make it known your interest in working with us.

Take some time to think and discuss, and let us know what you think.
Happy Masternoding!

IW

can we setup a mn using ddns?

I doubt it...

Just few MN coins have claimed their masternodes to be working with Dynamic DNS.
Old 8BIT dev told once it should work, but I don't think anyone has actually tried.

TransferCoin has claimed their MN will work with DDNS, and they are the first who are able to do that... See here: https://forum.bitcoin.com/alternative-cryptocurrencies-altcoins/tx-transfercoin-masternodes-android-osx-wallet-trading-t4290.html#p17467 :

2. We will be the first altcoin with Dynamic DNS Masternodes. This is for people who can't get a static IP from there provider.
If that claim is true ("the first altcoin" part), then it means Vibranium does not work with DDNS :)

But it is worth to check, if it doesn't work you don't lose anything but time.. especially at those prices...

Start your Vibranium wallet
Send exactly 3788 XVI to an address in your wallet and wait for 10 conformations.

Next go to Help/Debug/Console.
Type the following and hit Enter:

Code:
masternode genkey

Copy the result and place that in the vibranium.conf file below and save:

Code:
listen=1
daemon=1

FYI: Port 12215 must be open and ported to your local ip.
The port must be open on your router and firewall.

Restart your wallet and go back to Help/Debug/Console
Type the following and hit enter:

Code:

Is there any chance someone will take over this nice project, and ride the Masternode Wave..?

This has everything ready, just no developer (yeah, that 'little' detail missing  ;D)

Hello,

Has there been any development with this coin, any update on the developer or development team?  I see that Cryptopia has marked it for delisting.

Nope, nothing. The project is abandoned by both old developer, and the new one. Sadly, it didn't survive until the masternodes got in fashion again. It has pretty stable and working MN implementation, and could have gained a lot of traction, if any of its developers had balls.

Not sure if the chain is alive, but no community, no developer. Nobody has contacted me with any offer related to this coin. I am not a huge holder, but would be willing to donate quite a few coins if anybody is willing to take this project over. Cryptopia listing is pretty expensive nowadays, and this coin has it (yet).

I don't think so... I had a node running on a VPS, but I stopped it months ago due to zero connections + enormous resources eaten without any visible reason.

The staking reward is too small (as well as MN reward), that may be the reason why nodody cares to run this.
