Title: why have a delete button if you can't use it?
Post by: IamAGentleman on June 09, 2015, 12:22:39 PM
Is the admin not capable of removing it?

It's an SMF bug, and theymos doesn't care enough to fix it, it's not a big deal.

Maybe it should be renamed to DO NOT CLICK and see how many times people click it.

Maybe the delete function requires a specific rank to work?

I find that it works sometimes, but not at other times. For instance, I remember deleting a post of mine within a thread I created where I was the last one to make a post in that thread. I was also able to delete a reply in another thread created by someone else. But at other times, it didn't work at all.

I'd prefer it if it was only present when you actually have the ability to delete a post/thread while remaining hidden if the ability doesn't exist - i.e. the way normal forums are supposed to work. :D

Is it the Delete thread button or Delete post button? One can delete posts but I guess for a thread, the delete function doesn't work if there is more than 1 reply on that thread. If there is no reply on the thread, you can delete it.

As far as I know it is working in some sections? We all had examples of people deleted almost all of their posts.
However in some sections one can't delete their post(s).

This shouldn't be a big deal since the new forum is just around the corner.

You can only delete your thread if no one has seen it.

I've never had any problems deleting posts, fairly sure you cant nuke them if they're in a locked thread. Would also make sense that you cant delete them on certain boards like Marketplace, Loans etc

Maybe it should be renamed to DO NOT CLICK and see how many times people click it.

Just make it a big red button, guaranteed to stop people clicking it.

No one has seen it or nobody has replied to it? If I am not able to delete my thread when it receives just 1 view, it's a useless option. Also I have a doubt in this as when I open a self moderation thread and delete the replies, am I able to delete that thread?

I think it is SMF default.

No, you can't delete your topic if somebody has seen it even if it is self-moderated. I have tried and failed to delete it.
