Title: easiest scrypt-based coin to solo mine via gpu?
Post by: BOBAN on June 09, 2015, 11:21:23 PM
hey guys im running a msi twin frozr 3gb r9 280x mining feathercoin at ~250-279 khash/s.  I was just wondering as my title states, if there are currently any easier coins in terms of difficulty?

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but trying to solo mine with your gpu is like trying to dig a gold mine using only a spoon. It's theoretically possible, but it's not going to get you anywhere. If you have your heart set on mining, I would try MiningRigRentals or NiceHash. If you time it right, you can get some pretty low rates for scrypt mining on NiceHash.

Good luck and happy mining.

Oh, damn.  so what you're saying is, in theory, it's possible, but in reality, I'll probably never find a block.  going by that then, is there an easier mining pool for FTC with better rewards/lower hashrate than my current pool?  I'm currently using the block factory's pool:  https://ftc.theblocksfactory.com/

Thanks.

Try browsing through the old posts of this board. It's probably not worth it for any coin in terms of profitability, but you could find a semi-dead coin and have fun by dominating its mining network. Just forget profitability, any coin that is listed in an exchange is probably going to have at least some active miners.

That's not a bad idea. I did that a while back with iCoin and it actually got listed on an exchange again. All that mining actually ended up turning a small profit.

The best coin to mine at the moment is Goldcoin (GLD) because it's the best coin!  :P

feathercoin is neoscrypt

using a gpu to mine scrypt 1024 is for coins with very low difficulty only in this new age of technology

if you just like to mine, pick any scrypt 1024 coin wtih low difficulty and solo mine it

if you have other goals you may want to look to do 'more' with your hash power....

If you want to make profit, then do not mine scrypt coins, as they are mined with ASIC.

is it profitable to mine with a single gpu given the current difficulty at the moment?

Good luck to make profit. If I were you I'd buy coins directly while I can.

I give you an unselfish advice : if you wan't to keep your money or make profit don't use cloud mining service. They are all proven to be scam or deluding, whatever they look to be. Buy coins directly or try to sell service for coins and wait for value to rise. You won't be able to become rich by trusting all the scammers here.

Everytime someone propose you something miraculous, ask yourself why he wants to make you rich :)

Totally agree.

Scrypt with GPU? hmm...  You'll probably want coins with a difficulty that is under 0.1.  Even that will be a little high for a GPU.

More than likely any Scrypt coin that is GPU minable, will be unlisted.  Meaning you can't sell it at any exchange because no one is buying and no exchange either knows about it or wants it.

There are some nice old coins that are GPU minable.  If you are going to solo mine with Stratum check out:

Binarycoin (http://mining.securepayment.cc/pools/binarycoin/)
Suncoin (http://mining.securepayment.cc/pools/suncoin/)

Occasionally you could have some luck with these when the difficulty drops low enough:

Kittehcoin (http://mining.securepayment.cc/pools/kittehcoin/)
Octocoin (http://mining.securepayment.cc/pools/octocoin/)
Bunnycoin (http://mining.securepayment.cc/pools/bunnycoin/)
Nautiluscoin (http://mining.securepayment.cc/pools/nautiluscoin/)
