Title: BTC-Puppy - Live, No network, Brainwallet CD-ROM Post by: mikeg on September 12, 2012, 03:57:22 PM BTC-Puppy is a compact linux distribution (network disabled) designed for a single purpose - to generate offline, bitcoin brain wallets. This is a 'Live' booting CDROM that runs from RAM, launches a local copy of bitaddress.org in a web browser to generate offline bitcoin addresses.
This is a very early concept. If people find it useful, I'll trim all the unnecessary software from the distribution to create an ISO under 40MB. Your passphrase, address & key would get hand-written on paper. This is obviously not for everyday use. This is for long-term savings accounts where the key is stored in a safety deposit box or your brain. I don't suppose you chose any kernel secure RAM options? If remember well there's a few things in there that greatly improve the security.

i was worried that the main brainwallet site there would need to stay online for people to figure out the brainwallets.. if we can do it ourself, maybe i'll put some btc in my noggin! Only think I could find that would run on this old HP laptop. Can you include some additional independent address generators? Perhaps brainwallet.org and the Cascascius tool? If I'm going to send a significant amount of BTC to cold storage I'd like to be able to verify the keypairs or passphrase>addresses with more than one tool, ideally at least 3. This will be handy for people who can also not afford the latest-greatest tech.
