Title: Need a good registrar with POP & Forwarding email support
Post by: Melbustus on September 12, 2012, 10:51:38 PM
I use Rackspace Cloud Sites for hosting my LAMP stack sites, but my small clients often need some basic/cheap email services too, which Rackspace doesn't affordably offer. I currently use ICDsoft.com for my smaller clients, but I'm looking to migrate everybody over to Rackspace eventually. I'm fine doing my domain-reg and email stuff somewhere besides Rackspace.

Specifically, I'd like domain-reg plus email forwarding for under $15/yr, with optional POP/IMAP email accounts for a reasonable price; maybe around $1/yr for each mailbox...

Best I can find:
-- Namecheap.com will register .com domains for $10.69 with unlimited email forwarding, but it appears their actual POP email accounts cost $3/yr *each*.
-- eNom.com registers .com domains for $13.95, and offers 10 POP email accounts for $12.95/yr. BUT - they don't appear to offer email forwarding.

Anybody know of something that offers the reasonable domain-reg price, with unlimited email address forwarding, and full POP accounts for about $1/yr each or better?

Google apps is $50/yr PER USER.

Don't get me wrong - Google Apps is a great choice for small businesses that need a cohesive web-based company-wide business-apps suite.

But I'm talking tiny clients. Sole-proprietors who just have a largely brochure-ware web-presence and want a handful of email addresses. $50/yr per address is far too much for them. This can and should be under $25/yr for *all* of their domain and email needs.

After emailing with eNom support, it looks like they're my best option. Turns out they *do* offer free email forwarding with domain-reg, so that combined with their 10 full POP addresses for $13/yr gets me in the ballpark.

Huh? Google Apps is free under 10 users.

Oh, sweet... My bad. Just checked out their pricing page. I've been using Google Apps at companies with >20 people since the service came out, and apparently somehow I missed the introduction of that free tier! This is great.

Thanks for the heads-up!
