what mhash does a HD 7770 get

There are other threads on these cards, but I got > 200MH/s on my 7770 @ 1100MHz.

180mh/s at 60w

@ 1130/200, I get 207MH/s.

It's very similar to a 5770 but uses less power.

5970s only get 2.6x

but you only get a limited number of pcie slots

how many watts did yours pull?

I think mine was somewhere around the same power draw, either 60 or 65 watts.

My gigabyte card was locked to 1.200V, so it may have drawn slightly more, but was still > 3MHs/W.

I'll have to hook up my watt meter to the rig but I'm pretty sure it's around 60w (or less).  All of my 7xxx cards do 3MH/w or better.

compared to a Bitforce Single, single has 3.5x the hash @ same watts but 6x the price

Break even of a 7770 is 223 days (210MH/s, 80W, $109 hardware costs, 6 month time frame, and 0.5 profitability decline).
Break even of a Single is 245 days (832MH/s, 80W, $633 hardware costs, 6 month time frame, and 0.5 profitability decline).

Only 172 days for a 5970

Those calcs do not take into account the idea of selling your hardware after 6 months. A 7770 will sell used for a larger % of the initial investment than a 2 1/2 hear old 5970.

I disagree the assumption you seem to make that it will be a significant percent difference this year, maybe by next year

5970 is still THE HIGHEST HASHRATE Card out there

EDIT: no 6990 but at a significantly higher cost and more power consumption

You think in 6 months when we're all using ASICs that a 5970 will still sell for > $200 USD?

Just hooked up my watt meter and after factoring in efficiency and board/CPU power, I'm getting about 55w @ 1130/200.  My 7850 is better though, 313 Mh/s @ 75w (1050/200).

yeah. IF ASIC's are in use. if not, still worth around 250-290

3.76mhash/watt compared to 4.173 for your 7850 costing 180-200

Newegg, open box.  I don't factor the price that heavily when I'll be selling it later in a few months.  I know AMD does price drops and technology does get cheaper but I highly doubt it (or other recent cards for that matter) would drop more than 20%.

3 different companies are supposed to release their ASICs within the next 6 months. It'll happen.
