Title: Suddenly, bitcoin activity near me
Post by: capsqrl on September 14, 2012, 05:09:31 PM
I live in a relatively small city in a very small and backwards country full of farmers and snow. I have buy and sell ads on LocalBitcoins.com just for fun. I put my old stuff on bitmit and I've sold a few of them to people abroad.

But the other day, a fellow countryman bought something from me on bitmit! omg. And then the next day, a dude contacted me on LocalBitcoins and he's now bought btc from me in person. wth?

It's easy to get the feeling that things are suddenly taking off. Fun!

Today, I was going to pay someone for some work that was done and I realized I had more bitcoins then paypal!  ;D this is when you know things are taking off! ( they said they would accept bitcoins instead of paypal lol)

Could it be that you live near drug addicts who want to buy stuff off of Silk Road?  :o

Yeah, don't be crazy, that certainly never happens!

Have to do something while the GPS is guiding the combine around.

Wow, I'm glad I read this post.  I went and checked bitmit and sure enough I had an order in there from 2 weeks ago!

Man, that stuff is destroying your memory! Seriously, though, sending and receiving coins is easier than ever.

Since last post, I've sold bitcoin to two more people and made one more domestic sale on bitmit. It's just crazy, really taking off.

I started accepting bitcoins at gunbroker.com. No sales in BTC yet, however.

Dude that's awesome (about gunbroker), I've been waiting for someone to accept bitcoins.  I plan on watching your auctions with interest once I finish buying a couple (unrelated) things before keeping an eye on your stuff.  So I won't have the funds until probably after January, but if you keep accepting bitcoins, I'll bookmark your gun broker site to watch the auctions :)

[edit, addition]: so I see you don't have any guns on there yet, but I'll keep watching!  I think that would be an awesome service, you should buy guns and sell them on there at auction.  Charge shipping to send to our FFL.   My FFL will accept for $15, so I would totally do this.  :)

I'm starting to see interest on localbitcoins in my area - but as someone pointed out, I figure its people wanting to use silk road lol.

But still, I think I'm going to trade, spreads the word, spreads the bitcoins.

As a lawyer pointed out to me, do not ask why they want bitcoins. Talk about the weather, fluffy bunnies, or bitcoins itself, but do not ask why they want the coins. At least in my area, if I can legitimately claim ignorance, if someone gets busted and says "yeah, that teamhugs guy sold them to me", I can defend with "i just completed a transaction, nothing more" and get un-involved in their case at that point.

From url --> "Listing has ended."  Payment options don't include btc.  What happened?  Did your auction get yanked?
