Title: Altcoin Projects Upgrading To Bitcoin Core x.11
Post by: coins101 on June 22, 2015, 03:17:56 PM
Making a list of projects that have or are upgrading to Bitcoin Core 0.10.x v11, headers-first synchronization

Why?

The upgrade to Core 0.11 can be a challenge for a number of reasons. Older altcoin projects investing time and resources in making the change shows the projects serious intent.

In alphabetical order:

Projects upgraded already:

* Bitcoin ( :P)
* Bitcredit (BCR) (modified version)
* Dogecoin (DOGE)
* Groestlcoin (GRS)
* Guldencoin

Projects in the process of upgrading

* DASH (DASH)
* Spreadcoin (SPR)
* Shadowcash (SDC)

I'm starting with projects that I am aware of, before doing a trawl.

Please post details of any others.

Doesn't quite fit in your category but I upgraded VCoin from 0.8.6 to Core 0.11. It's running on testnet atm.

I did 0.10 myself, already in the process of re-basing a test branch to 0.11.rc.

Why not wait until hard fork issue is resolved?

I looked at things from a technical point of view and referenced Satoshi's general predictions on growth and maturity of crypto currency infrastructure management, based on that I made our 20MB hard fork a long time ago. What most people are failing to realize is that none of the proposed solutions works well alone and only a combination of Sidechains and an increase in blocksize makes for a viable long term solution. We intend to have micro storage solutions incorporated, as such it only makes sense that a block be large enough to carry data from multiple facets of our ecosystem such as transactions, sidechain data and even our proposed colored credits system. Since many of these will be automatic, the system, should by default have ample wiggle room.

Updated OP for the Bitcoin core release to v0.11

While not a complete upgrade, i have already included some of the changes in our test branch. For now that will be enough until maybe version 0.12...unless something huge comes along.

Guldencoin devs also upgraded to 0.11, looking at the other coins in the list I can see GRS has updated to 0.11 aswell but don't see the 0.11 commits for the others.

Dogecoin has a 0.11-based beta out now: https://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/3h7vvx/dogecoin_core_110_beta_1/

Hoping for an RC in 1-2 weeks depending on bug reports
