Title: Unwanted heading in my sent PM?
Post by: Bannedseller on June 29, 2015, 12:34:26 AM
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie though I'm not new here. Today when I send a PM, it automatically added this header to me:
!!! WARNING: This user is a newbie. If you are expecting a message from a more veteran member, then this is an imposter !!!
Which code is:
Code:
[size=12pt][color=red]!!! WARNING: This user is a [i]newbie[/i]. If you are expecting a message from a more veteran member, then this is an [i]imposter[/i] !!![/color][/size]
Why is this added?

It was added because you are newbie, and to them newbie = scammer.

Why is this added?

It was added because there have been multiple cases where newbies have impersonated established members, by using slightly modified user names. This warning effectively put an end to such scams.

Why not put this warning to newbies with usernames that has similar names. Not to all.

Because it's impossible to determine programmatically what names could look similar to another established member. Probably if you come up with a way to do that without errors then it will be implemented.

That is not impossible. That is easy logic.I think this is 1/1000000th easier than programming facial recognition.
