The downloaded bootstrap is just the raw block data, but Bitcoin Core needs to build databases from all of those blocks. With Bitcoin Core 0.10.0+, the bootstrap file is actually slower than simply letting it sync through p2p.

Actually it's faster as far as I know , if you downloaded it using Torrent or whatever then placed it on the correct path , you should see "Reindexing" near the ProgressBar . For me it takes couple of days because I have a shitty PC but it should be less for you (unless you have same thing as me) and this process don't need internet AFAIK . If you think it's annoying , just switch to "Multibit HD" or "Electrum" wallet , they are both safe and easy to use and don't have to download anything at all ; |
