Title: [ANN] clonecoin
Post by: nightrid3r on July 01, 2015, 10:27:57 AM
if have started with a project to offer a clean codebase to fork coins.
The forker only needs to do some search & replace and generate a new genesisblock.

At the moment i'm working on a scrypt coin based on Litecoin's 0.10.2.2 codebase.

https://github.com/clonecoin-project/clonecoin (https://github.com/clonecoin-project/clonecoin)

at the moment i'm a little stuck with the checkpoints i need to remove and still need to find a few other parameters.
The code as is builds and runs fine but i could use some help with cleaning up LTC specific parameters.

in the future i will add sha256, x11, x13 and x15 coins.

Other algo's are also welcome if people volunteer to help out.

I'm not a dev myself and use this project personally for educational purposes.
Easy forking will allow peaple new to cryptocurrencies to experiment and learn with a clean codebase.

Michel,

Michel,

lol, why
cloning is easy even without this

its easy if you are an experienced dev.

The project can and hopefully will be used for educational prurposes.

even if you do this project, the ones that want to clone a coin, will have to go with the same process as if they clone it from any other repo, still same things will need to be changed

What money ? This project is about CODE not about creating another shit/dump/hype ...... /scamcoin.
For me its about learning and teaching.
I don't believe in educating people with pre-historic tools so i will not use an aincient codebase.

If you want to use the project to create you own coin please do so. We did the "heavy" lifting to make it easy for those who want to experiment with coins.
They get a modern up to date codebase to start from.
As features are important in a coin this will only give you a base. You'll need to study it and add features yourself.
With this code its impossible to acidentally interfere with an exsisting coin. Worry free experimentation.

I also suggest to READ the thread before using words like shit and scam.
