Title: Is there a service that Pays BTC to Forum users that sell their signature space?
Post by: box0214 on July 01, 2015, 01:45:55 PM
I know its' been going on for awhile here where people sell their signature space for BTC. But is there a service that actually does this? Say if a company wanted to advertise on a "Shoe" forum and they are willing to pay users .0001 btc per post. Is there a middle man that can connect these 2 parties? You'd have to contact the user manually to notify them that a company is willing to buy out his signature and you'd have to also manually contact the company too.

Just wondering if anything like this exists? And is it even a valid business idea?

Not sure if it is worth it nowadays.  I paid a lot of a signature space but not sure if it did anything.

i'd imagine it would be good for seo at least even if people don't actually click the signature ads.

It's definitely a thing, and a valid business idea. I don't believe there's a company who specializes on that... But it's definitely not impossible to create such (there's an idea ;))

Definitely worth it (otherwise there wouldn't even be so many people having signature campaigns on the forum). I think signatures do attract people. It makes them curious and search for the services being publicized. Happen to me quite a few times already, when I see an interesting sig...

as far as I know, there is nothing like "service for running sig. campaing", usually it is somehow handled by company itself or somebody called "campaign manager". anyway, if this forum will grow on new platform and will became publicly known hub for anything related to bitcoin, I can imagine service like this for sure

Yes, as mentioned above, there are individuals who have taken it upon themselves to act as managers, they recruit trustworthy users who create quality posts and connect them to owners of companies who wish to advertise. They take a small fee but they must ensure everything goes according to plan (quality control, meeting requirements, seeing payments are made, finding new campaigns when old ones end... Etc)
It's a job, that's for sure, I don't think there is any sort of company offering this service yet, it's really too small of a market. I'm unaware of any forums besides this that even allows sig ads...
Plus... Sig campaigns are controversial, if you haven't noticed. They attract the wrong kind of user to forums and ruin the forum experience for those who come here out of reasons more pure than posting for pennies.

I use the services of a campaign manager, and I'm happy with the service, but manager approached me, not the other way around, which tells me that manager is doing their job right. Watching users to see who is a valued member and avoiding the account farming shit posters. My manager earns his keep. Good service to not only me and the advertisers, but responsible to the community as a whole by minimizing garbage content.

I think the best place to look for a manager is the escrow services here on the forums.  Those guys have a great reputation, and the few I have dealt with were professional and could handle it.  Just for reference, here are a couple of links for escrow (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0) and add campaigns (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0).

You can look at the managers in the ad campaign threads to see how they do things, and to get an idea of what to expect.  The campaigns I have been involved with have been well managed so far, but you can get an idea of this by reading user requests in the threads and seeing how the manager responds to them.  Is the campaign losing members because the manager is unresponsive or issues the payout too late?  These things are easy to see in the threads.

Just make a thread on service section and held some signature campaign, usually campaign manager who be a people in a company which held a sig campaign or people who hired by that company.
You can see a list and thread all SIG campaign here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0
