What if you could add discrete graphics to your Ultrabook? We test the gaming performance of Sonnet's Echo Express Thunderbolt expansion chassis for PCIe cards.[/snip] Title: Re: [Tomshardware] Hmm - Desktop Graphics In A Thunderbolt Chassis Post by: Photon939 on September 19, 2012, 06:34:42 PM I'm glad to see something like this is finally available. Shame the price point puts it too far out of the useful area for most people though.
For a laptop user wanting better gaming/GPGPU performance, you could build a whole mini ATX system for the price of that adapter. For a miner wanting better efficiency, the benefits of attaching more GPUs to a rig is outweighed by the huge cost of the adapter.
