Haha brilliant.  There was chat of lightbulbs being able to mine can't remember where I saw it but this made me think of it.

Maybe they will. The advancements of technology are getting ridiculous. I remember Gavin saying how in the future a simple coffee cup could mine Bitcoin and with the generated heat you could use it to warm your cofee or something along the lines. The internet of things is real and bitcoin mining go along with it.

It's just "push buttons" to control some silly game character.
I dare you to build a toaster that has real computing power :)

A few weeks ago a Bitcoin-lightbulb was presented...now I really hoped to see the first genuine bitcoin-miner-toaster-combi. I'm a bit disappointed... ??? ;)

Of course the question is: Would it be technically possible to have chips that generate enough heat to toast without ruining the hardware?

Dam just when i chucked out my toaster because one side didnt work.  Going to get a new toaster soon is a 2 or 4 slice one better for mining?

Just a observasion :

1. Toasters generate heat, and Bitcoin mining needs cold temperatures to operate at optimum power. {Toasters will therefore be a bad application for mining}
2. If you plan on mining only when you make toast, you will have to buy a warehouse for all that toast to show a profit.
3. It would be better to use the toaster to warm up the bread with the heat generated from the mining, before you toast it... It's not going to be hot enough to toast it.  ;D
4. Will there be place for the toast, when you add all the ASIC's for the mining?

What games actually award Bitcoins to users? I know there were some Minecraft servers that did, but the only Minecraft server I know of that uses Bitcoins (Bitquest) hasn't been awarding emeralds (bits) to players for weeks.

if you want to gain something by playing it is better to look at hypercoin, they support minecrast too, and many other game, but i doubt you can play those well with  toaster  :D

that toster thing isn't something new, i remember they said you can play with the commodore too or any other old devices, like very old 8 bit ibm machine

If you define "mining" like that, you can also mine without a toaster only by sleeping (when somebody pays you for that in BTC)

I kind of felt the video is real in the beginning but towards the end I am almost certain it is fake. It is hard enough to get a printer to work, and this dude managed to simply "plug and play" a toaster, complete with a "toast" command. I call fake.

I was led to believe that this was some kind of proof-of-achitecture mining from some kind of expensive toast, what I actually found was a tenuous link to Bitcoin :/

Great idea... though the last video does not look convincing. Which toaster is moving the person? I believe its a video played only. Though i wonder if the toaster can be really configured that way or if the video is made up completely.

Is it completely fake? I mean its imaginable that they have a microchip and its easiest to upload the firmware through usb. Im not so much into these things to be able to judge it. :P

What I find hilarious about this post is that it goes both ways....

This is pretty funny, mainly for how impractical it would be to mine bitcoins with a toaster. It is funny to imagine. But, playing video games/mining with a toaster is a very unique idea and I have not heard about it before. Thanks for sharing.
