ISIS Could Blow Up the Entire USA on July 4th If We're Not Careful

As a U.S. American, just how terrified should you be this weekend about terrorism? “The vigilance surrounding this year’s celebration carries added weight,” according to NBC News. “The reason is ISIS.” Uh oh! Pretty terrified, it sounds like.

After more than 12 months of brutal ISIS news, it is perhaps unsurprising that the fear-mongers are... mongering (?) extra hard ahead of July 4th this year. “Worries of ISIS-Inspired Attacks Cloud July 4 Holiday Weekend,” says NBC. “U.S. on high alert heading into July 4 weekend,” warns CBS News. “U.S. boosting security measures ahead of July 4th,” cautions CNN.

ISIS is much better organized, and seems to have an intelligent leadership unlike their predecessors (the Al Qaeda). Al Qaeda made the mistake of attacking the super-powers, even before it had firmly established itself (talking about the 9/11 or the September 11 attacks). ISIS is much more careful. So far, they have refrained from attacking the US, Israel, and Turkey.

Which is precisely the reason why the US doing little or nothing to stop them right now is a BAD idea.  They are a different type of religious inspired psycho, the likes of which the world has not seen in a long time.    Action needs to be taken, and this time, it is going to take a lot more effort to get rid of them because they have grown far too strong.

Right now they are not that strong. A well planned ground operation will destroy the ISIS. But I agree with your argument that they needs to be destroyed before they become too strong. Perhaps the Americans are waiting for Assad to fall, else he will be gaining advantage in any NATO military operation against the ISIS.

I think the "high alert" talk has been standard in the US around these holidays since 2002. There's always a threat, [insert new organization name here]. The more pressing question is why the media pronounces ISIS as "I-sis" rather than the more phonetical "is-is"...there's the REAL scandal.

I kid. Happy holiday!

The attack against Israel was launched by the Ansar Bait al-Maqdis, a group which is limited to the Northern part of Sinai and mostly supported by the local Bedouin, and not by the Islamic State itself. The Ansar Bait al-Maqdis is an affiliate of the ISIS, but it should not be confused with the Islamic State proper, which is mostly confined to Iraq and Syria.
