Title: What mining speed will I get?
Post by: GiocareHost on July 05, 2015, 11:01:54 AM
I am planning to mine using my Gaming desktop.
Before downloading any miner I would like to have some expert's advice.
Here goes my config. :
Nvidia gtx 980
8 GB ram
Octa-core Amd processor

So how much mining speed will I get?
Will there be any problem if I run it for 15 hours each day(except Sunday)

frankly it depends on what algo you mine (x11 or SHA etc ::) ) but you wont make alot, also you will where down your pc. i sent you a pm to help you :)

yes it will largely depend on the algo you are trying to run but running the PC 15 hours shouldn't be too big of a problem as long as you can keep everything cool. I am assuming the set up will be in a traditional tower pc?

Yup,Coolermaster cabinet.
I use this desktop for gaming, but now I decided to use it as a miner since I don't get enough time to play games.

If you are mining bitcoin you will get horribly low speeds.   Most likely you need to look into scrypt mining.

I would do some ROI math.   I know I got out of GPU mining a while back it was just to tight of margins.  Some ran at a loss even depending on electricity price.  But its been a while back on this.

Quite frankly, using a GPU rig to mine Bitcoins is only for people with FREE electricity, fully paid for hardware, and no way to sell the hardware. You would almost certainly make more money by selling the hardware, than it would ever return by mining.

Bitcoin mining has only been cost effective using an ASIC for well over 18 months now.

Maybe it would be useful for some other Crypto-Coin, but NOT Bitcoin.

maybe you can try using x11 or x13 algorithm.
but you should move to altcoin for discus that algo.

Even with free electricity mining BTC with a GPU is a horrible idea.  You can get a USB stick miner that will outmine the GPU all day long.

Really do the math but don't mine BTC with GPU unless done for a short time just for learning.

I believe this is the answer to your question  :) : http://cryptomining-blog.com/3503-crypto-mining-performance-of-the-new-nvidia-geforce-gtx-980/

But a tip : Don't mine with your graphics card because is no longer profitable
