How deposit works?
Every XDN user can make a deposit. In general deposit is a "lock" for your coins for some time with some interest when "lock" expires. When user make a deposit, he choose the time and amount of deposit, after deposit made, deposited DigitalNotes can not be spend before deposit time expires. So with deposits, the amount of "active" digitalnotes in circulation becomes lower. Every user of XDN network can verify the amount of network deposited XDN units and the amount of active XDN in circulation. (check print_stat command)

Some values:

    150XDN - minimum deposit amount
    11000 blocks ~1 month - minimum deposit time
    11000*12*10 blocks ~10 years - maximum deposit time
    Annual interest rate 0.4% - 1.094%

Interest rate depends only on deposit time.

Some example:

Alice has 10000XDN and she wants to deposit all for about 1 year. An annual interest rate for that deposit will be about 1%, so after 1 year Alice will receive 10000XDN (Alice initial funds) + 100XDN (Alice interest)

This is a really interesting way of providing POS like benefits for long term holders without introducing the disadvantages of a purely POS based coin.

DigitalNote is a proof of work, blockchain banking deposits is not a PoS.
We will implement proof-of-activity based on deposits, but we will always keep ASIC-resistant Proof-of-work.

This is proof of stake...if you're not using it to secure the block chain, it's providing revenue for providing no service at all, which means you're just robbing from the PoW miners, giving them lower incentives technically.

The mining rewards right now are a joke (extremely small). The coin had very high rewards for the first year when the coin was called ducknote (when it had no important unique features) so that the devs and their friends could mine the great majority of all coins to ever exist when nobody was paying attention

We are working on proof-of-activity based on blockchain deposits, so users will secure network with their deposits and staying online, while pow miners will always have their 150 XDN reward.

It is not a joke. it is constant and it is a part of XDN self regulated economy. please check the initial interest to ducknote, please check network hashrate stats, please, check the whole story.
XDN was the very first CN coin wit GUI, including html simplewallet wrapper, also encrypted messages and DarkNote quantum leap was on "high" rewards.
Actually rewards doesn`t matter, only 1-CPU-1-VOTE does matter.
