I wanted to see 300 during this difficulty we have already passed my goal.  Will be intresting to see how high we can get above 300.   I'm suprised I thought we would going up and down around 300.  But so far pretty steady above it.

And still difficulty under 5.. not bad at all:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    51,076,366,303
Estimated Next Difficulty:    53,140,476,481 (+4.04%)

If the S7 get on the market on the next diff, the hashrate will rocketup.
With the price going up we cant aim to a negatif diff I guess.

Hashrate could be worse:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    51,076,366,303
Estimated Next Difficulty:    52,676,501,561 (+3.13%)
Adjust time:    After 1847 Blocks, About 12.9 days
Hashrate(?):    362,801,407 GH/s

Price around 307 so still above 300 which is nice.  Hopefully we can keep over 300 for most/all of difficulty period.

I find it interesting how much bitwisdom changes in a hour.  It is kinda a roller coaster at beginning of difficulty change.

Bitcoin Difficulty:    51,076,366,303
Estimated Next Difficulty:    52,676,501,561 (+3.13%)
Adjust time:    After 1847 Blocks, About 12.9 days
Hashrate(?):    362,801,407 GH/s

and

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty >>>>>>>>>>>>>  (+2.79%)

That is a decent change in just a hour.  But I do really like the way its going.

Ouch price is now taking a dive currently at - 284.75

This is a drop of over 8 percent or 25 dollars.   Price is still not horrible as long as it does not plummet more.  But would be nice to get over 300 mark again.

dropped a bit more..   Well this is why waiting to block 300 to pick helps a bit.

If everyone picked yesterday when coins were 310  picks would be as high as 5% and 6%

based on this site which is more of a real time number we are negative   we are 208 blocks in  so figure 14 to 16 hours time and we will open for picking.

 http://www.bitcoincharts.com/  (-0.036%)

So over night a big drop.

Oh coinbase needed to shut down  must likely panicked sellers  caused that.

Look for them to open later today.

Feel sorry if you ordered an s-5 at the new higher price of 439 plus shipping.  Good luck with that.

Gotta love Bitmain...

Finance guys: hey, BTC is trending up?  Woohoo!  Raise the price of the miners!!!
Hardware guys: sweet!  We can sell off those old S5s from our data center for even more $$!!!  Makes more room for these shiny new S7s!
Sales guys: well... they're not saying anything at all... they're still too drunk to form complete thoughts.

Bitwisdom looks like it's thinking positive still:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    51,076,366,303

Adjust time:    After 1745 Blocks, About 12.2 days

Price making it up slowly and at 288.  It is not the 300+ we had but at least it's slowly going up.

Well in their favor at least they sell gear to us.
Many other companies just shut us out.
They are in a funny spot as they are just about the only company that sells gear to the home miner.

As of right now they want 399 plus 43 to ship to the usa total price = 442

Can it make money if you have a psu and cheap power it can make money.

Is it a fair price?  Some say no way too high.  It is way too high if your power is at 10cents and up.

So mining is now an 8 cent a kwatt game.

That is good news we made a pretty quick recovery from low 280's to low 290's.  I'm just hoping we can get the 300 again in a decent time period.

I am hoping you are right about 300 being the new norm.  For us miners going from mid 200's to 300 is a good and welcomed jump.

if you are mining a jump to 400 then 500 will start  big growth in diff.
I actually prefer it to do a big drop 210 or 220 then a slow climb back up.
Anything to slow diff growth and keep it under 2%.

I rather the jump up and over 300 then 400 happens in Oct or Nov.

I fear staying above 300 before the s-7 drops will result in big diff jump.
I know prices above 400 right at the s-7 release will be a big growth jump and higher s-7 prices.

It's been a great summer so far.  Much better then I ever expected.  I would agree once next gen comes out we will see some more growth, I'm not sure how crazy it will be.

What I'm hoping is we gain with next gen, but we lose some old miners.  I still think there are quite a few A1's out there.  One day they will drop out, but it's hard to say when.
If we keep seeing low to medium single digits  for rest of summer I will be a extremely happy person. And if we don't I still did far better then I thought I would during summer, so still a win.

I do suggest not rushing on the picks  as it is early.

For me it is half the fun starting this early :).   I also have not been changing my picks though as I don't want to waste your time.

I have a idea that might be liked or hated.   Maybe make it where if someone wins with a pick that was changed give half the prize, and move other half to the next week.  Just seems one who picks early has better choices normally, and if they change later on they got a prime spot plus being able to watch difficulty for a bit.  So really is a advantage.

I struck out most of your post as it has wrong info.

We ended pick switches  months ago.  Basically it was too much work for me to do.

1 pick is  all you get.  we put the delay in to start at 300 then end at 1000 for picks.

the advantage of waiting gets lessened by early pickers since  there may be no picks at all .

but if there is a shift at block 850 to 950 a late pick can be good.

this is true since no one can switch an early pick.

I find it fun to pick early.  I have not been right yet ... but wont stop me from trying :)

The difficulty still looks really good.  Loving each week low difficulty change, I fear for this going away.

If we could only get back up to 300 again.  Was nice to see it above 300, but the good news is did not fall back a ton.   Could have been a lot worse.

True enough the fall was a moderate one it does mean that the difficultly will not likely go up to much in this period though where a $300+ boom market might have pushed 6% guesses at an average 2-3% one at present but their is still some time for the price and difficulty to change.

I'm really liking the difficulty so far this round.  I keep guessing it will go up but I'm happy to be wrong in this case.

Coinbase still at 279 so not going down, but not going up either.  I want to hit that 280 mark again.

Yep, looking good! I think this adjustment will be up, but before summer ends there will be one or two more decreases before more next gen chips launch.  It all depends on what the price does, and vis versa. Obviously hard to predict!

I go out of town for a few days, out of touch with electronics, and come back to a $277 btc price.  I was hoping it would go up by $15 in my absence, not down, but at least it's still a strong price and diff is hovering around where it's been all summer.  Guess the Greece shake up did a little for btc, but not as much as people hoped.  Which is a bummer because just today on the new they're saying how Greeks can't send money internationally and I'm thinking, "Hello, bitcoin?"

While I guess it's still possible, a difficulty DECREASE is growing ever more remote. Two increases in a row like this suggest to me that we have a real growth in the network hashrate, and not just variance. I don't think we'll see difficulty below 49 Billion again.

With the value of the Bitcoin growing, im not sure we are seeing a grown but more like a restart of old gear.
There is always a buffer of old gear that just wait to be on again.
If the price of the btc drop then the hashrate will drop again.

Until we see new gears, we are on a balance level.

Well bitmaintech is still selling s-5's . Bitfury and KNC are mining away.  Some other pools are doing well.

BW.com, BTC China are 2 that seem to be growing a bit.

I think in house mining by builders is growing very slowly but growing.

As for today  we are a bit off the 144 block pace.

366236 (Main Chain)   2015-07-21 00:10:21

105 blocks in about   20 hours   we should have 119 or 120 to be on pace  so we are 14 off pace for today

About 4 days left if we could do 4 days of 130  we could yet go negative.  but for now we are around +1%

105 blocks in about   20 hours   we should have 119 or 120 to be on pace  so we are 14 off pace for today

About 4 days left if we could do 4 days of 130  we could yet go negative.  but for now we are around +1%

Price is still hovering under 280, right now 277.  Seems like 280 is our barrier for the moment to pass.

that 280 number is why diff is pretty flat.   280 to 308 is  10%  . so we dropped price which puts  a damper on the diff.

127 blocks instead of 144   -17 for the day  very nice.

still keeps us alive for a negative number!

we have 541 blocks to  go  a 127  a day pace would be great!

That would be amazing if we get a negative number out of all of this.   Even a small positive is not to bad.

I just wish BTC price would jump up a little.

It seems since Greece has settled down so has the bitcoin price.  Albeit higher than when the shit first hit the fan over there, but not quite the $300+ everyone was hoping for/predicting.

Bitwisdom:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    51,076,366,303
Estimated Next Difficulty:    51,673,736,860 (+1.17%)
Adjust time:    After 480 Blocks, About 3.3 days
Hashrate(?):    371,363,711 GH/s

Looking very nice at a tad over 1 percent.  If we are around that I will consider this another successful difficulty change.

Price still hanging a little under 280 pretty steady.

this is 128 blocks in 19 ⅔ hours   we should be at 118

so we are on a 155 pace  what happens is  bitcoinwisedom trails a bit off the real time numbers

I would say we are at +1 to +1.25%

not the lower number on bitcoinwisdom.

Price is just right below 280 on coinbase.  Looking like we might be stuck there for rest of difficulty change, just not much varience.

Hopefully next change we can see a increase over 280 again.  And 300 is would be nice.

Call we officially call the ASIC boom over?  I think so, ASIC Boom RIP 2013 - 2015.

We've defiantly reached a plateau, haven't been in territory like this since mid-2011 thru begin of 2013.  Where do we go from here?  Realistically I don't know how much bigger the network can grow, especially with the next halving right around the corner.  I think the network becomes more efficient, but not much larger than ~400PH/s.

I still think there are a lot of A1 gear on network in cheap electricity areas.  This gear has to drop off someday.

We know LKETC make a TON of dragons.  And other companies made some A1 stuff aswell.  Likely most will be replaced with a newer miner sometime.

Call me crazy, but I don't think it's dead yet.  I think we could see 425PH by end of year, along with an associated 20%+ total diff increase.

Simply basing it on if new hardware finally gets out.  I think we'll see a 20% efficiency bump with it, and I think it will have a net trickle-down effect, with those at the bottom (most inefficient hardware) tossing old gear and get more efficient.  I'm not sure there would be a market for that old gear, even with free power, so it might not be as much as I think, but I still think we're in for another decent sized jump before the halving.

However, as always, a lot will have to do with the price of BTC.  If it stays flat up to and through the halving, I think it could bring the total hashrate down considerably as more leave the game because they can no longer afford to mine at all.

But, that's the great thing about speculation... we all don't know but it's fun to talk about... :)

This would be great.  I would love to see a negative rate,  its been a bit since one.

If price hangs around 280 and we get a negative that would be a win for miners for sure.

I tried calling my buddies at KNC, and asked them to turn off their gear for a few days so that I could win with my small negative guess. They just laughed at me......   :)

On a more serious note, I think this is more than just "variance". The last two increases together suggest that we have a real and sustained increase in hashrate. Absent some kind of disaster, or collapse in BTC price, we won't see a difficulty below 50 Billion again (IMHO).
