Title: Altcoin
Post by: BTCLender on July 12, 2015, 03:44:02 AM
What are altcoins? Are they a currency? If they are, do I need a wallet to have them. And how much btc is each altcoin worth?

Hey Bud, welcome to the forum.

Altcoins are crypto currencies other than Bitcoin. Bitcoin was the first crypto currency and then a bunch of additional crypto currencies were created, some have legitimate differences or enhancements from Bitcoin and others are just copycats. Litecoin is the widely accepted 2nd most popular coin (e.g., Litecoin is to Bitcoin as sliver is to gold).

There are several dedicated forum sections or threads to the altcoins, which would provide you a great amount of information.

Alternate Cryptocurrencies (I.e., Altcoins):  DO NOT POST SESC LINKS #6

Spend some time reading and you'll find a lot of information. Then after you have some background information you'll probably have some specific questions and the people that know exactly what you want will come out of the ether to help you.

Good luck to you!
