Title: Texans organize 'Operation Counter Jade Helm' to keep an eye on the federal troo
Post by: abasin on July 12, 2015, 06:10:38 PM
"When the troops land in Texas for Operation Jade Helm next week, someone will be waiting for them.

Hundreds of people have organized a "Counter Jade Helm" surveillance operation across the Southwestern states and in an effort to keep an eye on the contentious military drill that's sparked many suspicious of Uncle Sam's intentions."

http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/texas/article/Texans-organize-Operation-Counter-Jade-Helm-to-6378017.php (http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/texas/article/Texans-organize-Operation-Counter-Jade-Helm-to-6378017.php)

While not a conspiracy 'nut' I am glad that there are some folks watching to see what the Feds are doing. Especially in light of the media not being allowed to be part of the activities.

Yea, it's so paranoid to want to keep an eye on your government. It's not like governments have ever abused their authority or lied about anything before.

"If the government wants to put troops in place for a takeover, they aren't going to put them in Bastrop," [Johnston] said.

Put troops in place for a takeover? Ummm...Texas is already part of the United States. These people are whacked, which makes the following comment even more entertaining:

But the organizers insist the radically conspiracy-minded have been filtered from the surveillance volunteers, and no one among their group fears the imminent opening of concentration camps. Lanteri said he struggles to keep that bloc off his Facebook page.

And the height of paranoia is wanting to keep an eye on an institution that has the legal authority to kill, imprison, and tax people, because those kinds of powers have never been abused before, right?

I've been posting about this in the rapture thread, where I lay out conspiracy theories that have been posted recently.

You can check it out here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1107932.msg11857006#msg11857006) if you would like, though it encompasses more than just Jade Helm, it also has a LOT more info than this and the "supposed" FEMA camps.

Snippet: FEMA training camps & JADE HELM 15

$96 million Fake Town in Virginia (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/02/16/heres-the-u-s-armys-96-million-300-acre-fake-city-in-va-complete-with-subway-station-football-stadium-and-mosque-for-terrorism-combat-training/)

"The U.S. Army has constructed an elaborate fake city in Virginia designed for terrorism combat training, spanning 300 acres and complete with a five-story embassy, a bank, a school, an underground subway and train station, a mosque, a football stadium and a helicopter landing zone, the U.K. Telegraph reported."

http://www.theblaze.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/fake-city-4-e1392610836723.jpg

Though the mention of a mosque, looks like a church, and all the signs are in English... seems more like a US town than a foreign one based on the pictures, and subway and football stadium (doesn't everyone in the world like soccer instead?).

To pharaphrase - Paranoid is as Paraniod does.

And the height of paranoia is wanting to keep an eye on an institution that has the legal authority to kill, imprison, and tax people, because those kinds of powers have never been abused before, right?

You could say the Jewish people were paranoid during the Holocaust era when they were forced to wear the star and had their windows broken in the Night of Broken Glass etc... sometimes you have to pay attention to things before they go too far.

Yep, that's the whole point. Thinking the military is there to kill and imprison people. Classic paranoia.

Paranoid is as Paranoid does.

How many soldiers FROM Texas will be taking part in the exercise? Thousands? Do you honestly think they would stay silent as
to intent?

Paranoid is as Paranoid does.

The military does not have any authority on US soil.

It is illegal, per the constitution to have actively deploy troups for real time military operations. So, you would need all aspects of the government, including the GOP to willingly take part in order for this fantasy about the military being deployed to take over Texas.

By the way, we do not want Texas. Please stop breaking your promises to secede and do it already. Or we will send troups and force you out of the union.

Another thing about the Jade Helm business. It has also been suggested that it really is what it says it is, a training session, but that the point will be to get people riled up with paranoia and make them look crazy, so in the future people will just believe these "conspiracy nuts" really are crazy, and won't listen to them.

Totally agree. It's not like there has been hundreds of examples over history of governments abusing their authority or deceiving the citizenry. That kind of stuff never happens.

LOL. Riiiight. The government also has the legal authority to defend the nation, which is what the exercise is about. Your choice of words is obvious. Trying to wiggle out of it is absurd.

Apparently, Texans think they are living in a foreign country. Sick is right. Pretty damn stupid as well.

I'm not wiggling out of anything. I never said that the military exercises were for the purpose of killing or imprisoning anyone. I simply said that it is not paranoid to want to keep an eye on the institution that has those powers and has historically abused them.

I never said the purposes of these exercises was to kill or imprison Americans. I simply said that it's not paranoid to want to keep an eye on an institution that has those powers. It's a really simple position actually. Not sure why you're having such a hard time deciphering it.

The only way you can get away with labeling this "paranoia" is if you whitewash thousands of years of historical evidence that demonstrates the abusive and corrupt nature of centralized governments.

The stupidest, most anti-American argument one can make is "trust the government", since this country was founded on open revolution and skepticism towards government.

But you super smart, clever people keep acting like there isn't a mountain of evidence, both historical and contemporary, that proves how devious, corrupt, and abusive centralized governments can be. I wouldn't want to burst that fantasy bubble you're living in.

You may not have said it., but the people leading the "surveilance" groups did say it,. and they had nothing to back it up with. That is why they are paranoid.

I agree. It's a painfully simple position that any halfwit should be able to understand.

Oh well. It's better to err on the side of liberty than it is to irrationally trust in the good intentions of the state.

All I said was that given the immense powers the government has, it makes sense for people to want to keep an eye on it. It's not a very hard position to understand.

You do realize that the military is conducting exercises all around the country? Sixty miles east of here is the Top Gun facility. Funny how the residents of Fallon aren't concerned.

Texas is part of the United States, so thinking that the US can take over itself is the pinnacle of irrationality.

And yet, historically speaking, the closest the US has come to be dominated by a foreign power was when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor - an attack that mostly succeeded because of poor preparation on the part of the military.

And if Americans had not "trusted" the government to respond to said attacks, they would never have mobilized behind the government and put everything they had into the defeat of the attacking Japanese. So history has examples of trusting government also being positive.

But again - Paranoid is as Paranoid does.

I wasn't talking about external threats, I was talking about the oppression of people by their own governments, the existence of which you apparently unaware of.

Everyone can call these people paranoid. They are. We should be arguing about whether they are right to be paranoid or not.

They used to teach in school to be wary of governments having too much power, it leads to massacres and revolutions. I don't know if they still teach this anymore, but "power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

We have checks and balances in the government for this purpose. Though, I seem to recall Obama passing things without approval?

Anyway, I don't see what's wrong with there being checks and balances in place, and it seems to me, that that's all these people want to do. "Check" things out.

Correction. It WAS illegal under Posse Comitatus, but this was overwritten by The John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007. In effect the military has been given en exemption on operating on US soil.
