Title: How much money have you lost in Bitcoin or Bitcoin-related ventures? Post by: malevolent on September 22, 2012, 10:23:08 PM How much money (in BTC and fiat) have you lost in Bitcoin-related trades or investments or USD investments related with offers on this forum? Due to BTC volatility I am using USD in the poll.
I myself have lost about $198 (to Andrew Nollan shakaru). Title: Re: How much money have you lost in Bitcoin or Bitcoin-related ventures? Post by: thepwnorbpwnd on September 22, 2012, 10:32:12 PM 2 BTC, losing my wallet to a corrupt windows and then a reinstall. Yay.

I know a lot of money was lost in hacks (bitcoinica, lineode, bitcoin7, mybitcoin, etc https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=83794.0 ) and of course with Pirate. Post by: Vandroiy on September 25, 2012, 02:45:27 PM 2.8 BTC, back when I was mining, bitcoinpool.com withdraw address was changed to whatever, I wasn't there to monitor so the payment went to whomever. They said it was a hack, facepalm when it looked like they got injected and used cheap PW hashing on top.

Had a similar thing happen to me but only lost 0.1 BTC but the fault was mine as I reused my password on slush pool and some other exchange/pool/website that got hacked. Haven't quite recovered it in mining income yet.
Title: Re: How much money have you lost in Bitcoin or Bitcoin-related ventures? Post by: tgmarks on September 25, 2012, 08:53:09 PM I feel like anyone who has made much has lost a little somewhere along the way. I know I have, often to my own fault for not more carefully verifying who I was lending to or investing in a sketch business, but that is what has also allowed me to make more than what I have lost.
