About one year has passed since the forum first started advertising (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=46025.0). To celebrate one year of ads, I'm changing the rules this round to hopefully allow more people to advertise.

There are 52 total ad slots which are randomly rotated. So one ad slot has a one in 52 chance of appearing. 52 of the slots are for sale here. Ads appear only on topic pages with more than one post, and only for people using the default theme.

The ad lasts 7 days starting from when I put it up.

Ad writing guide

I will not be able to help advertisers with creating ads this week.

You must use this template for your ad unless you advertised within the last few weeks:
You must send me only one line of text. Do not use any <div> tags. Only one link allowed this week. Test your ad on a copy of this page (https://bitcointalk.org/adrotate.php?adinfo). I will reject your ad and not give you a chance to fix it if it's unacceptable.

- Ads must not contain images or JavaScript
- Ads must not animate (no <blink> or <marquee>). Subtle CSS hover effects may be allowed, since other links on the forum do that.
- Ads must not load things from external sites.
- Ads must not be taller than 3 lines of default-styled text (as they appear on my browser, which is about 700px wide). This is around 42px.
- I will reject ads if I find them to be especially annoying
- HTML should be valid XHTML 1.0 transitional. Use proper HTML entities for characters like '&'
- Note that your ad's style may be affected by the board's default CSS

Auction rules

You may only bid in this auction if you are at least a Jr. Member and you registered before the time of this post.

Each person may only buy one slot.

Post your bids in this thread. Just post how much you'll pay for 1 slot. When the auction ends, the highest bidders will have their slots filled until all 52 slots are filled.

- When you post a bid, the bids in your previous posts are considered to be automatically canceled.
- All bid prices must be evenly divisible by 0.01.
- The bidding starts at 0.05.
- I will end the auction at an arbitrarily-chosen time up to 7 days from now.
- If two people bid at the same price, the person who bid first will have his slots filled first.
- If not all slots are filled, the total number of slots in rotation will be reduced.

You must pay for your slots and send me your ad within 24 hours of receiving the payment address. Otherwise your slots may be sold to someone else. I sometimes give leeway on late payments, but I will not do so this round. Make sure you pay as soon as you see my winners PM.

One slot per person only. If your company has more than one person, each person can have a slot (if they have a forum account that's old enough). Do not use alt accounts to get more slots.

wmXchange - belongs to the manager of WMXchange and is also used by two more persons that provide support for WMXchange
wmx.support - belongs to another member of WMXchange team, different from the guys that use "wmxchange" that take care of marketing

You probably saw we both connect from same IPs range, if that is the problem I can explain you in PM why its so

oh lol i didn't read the rules, I just assumed it was like, bid whatevs like usual.  I figured if one person were to blanket bid across lots of slots, it would increase the bid for all the rest of the slots.  However, the way you set it up works better for we, the people, since no one can get more than 1 slot.  Great idea!!!

I have a question, can we increase our bid amount, if we are 'bumped off the charts' by other bidders?  I would not want to lowball bid and then not be eligible to enter a higher amount.

No. If all 52 slots aren't filled, there will just be fewer slots, and every ad will get more pageviews.

Listen when this auction is over - whatever slots that are remaining out of the 52 - I will pay for them - matching the lowest offered price - and maybe we can just give them out to donators, or vip members or to people who want to advertise something but cant afford them. I don't know you can figure out who they go to.

But I want to support the forum so I am willing to personally match the lowest offered price in this auction for however many slots are left and you can allocate them however you want. I am sure you will give them to good causes.

That wasn't the terms specified by theymos.  If less than 52 slots are sold then the sold slots simply have a larger share.  If you are concerned about the profitability of the forum you could always make another donation. ;)

your right, I wouldn't want to make your ad's any less effective. That's not what I am trying to do. Theymos said he wants to run 52 original advertising slots and that is what is going to happen.

Um no once again. You are limited to one bid on one slot.  Any unsold slots are simply unsold.  If 40 slots sell then each slots 1/40th of the total impressions.  If 48 slots sell then each slots is 1/48th the total impressions.  If all 52 sell then each slots is 1/52 the total impressions.   

So no the rest don't become free, the rest don't get bought by you.  Those were the terms specified by theymos and I doubt he is going to break his word mid auction just because you feel the bids are too low.

Thanks for the offer, but I specified in the auction rules that any unsold slots will not be sold and the remaining slots would end up getting a bigger share of the pageviews.

I just realized that there's no easy way to override SMF's link color and text-decoration from an inline style attribute, so I'll also allow people to use this template:

The first section is CSS that will be inserted into the <head>'s <style>. The second section is the ad HTML. Do not add extra lines.

No. You can't use pseudoclasses in inline CSS, so you have nothing to apply !important on.

Are you saying that the ad should be no more than around 42 px tall? Are you also limiting the length of the ad to around 700 px?

Right, it can't be taller than ~42px. If the ad wraps on my screen because it's wider than ~700 px, it will probably be too tall. And your ad can't make a horizontal scrollbar appear on my screen.
