Title: Fox News wore Jon Stewart down: How 16 years of debunking...

Fox News wore Jon Stewart down: How 16 years of debunking right-wing lies exhausted the last honest man.

"...Could Stewart really be giving up his show due to Fox News fatigue?  And if that is true, what does this say about political discourse in our nation? Does this mean Fox News won and Stewart gave up?  I’d like to stay optimistic, but it’s time to take seriously the idea that Fox News killed the greatest satire show of our nation’s history.

Think about it; since Stewart started hosting his show Fox News has thrived—and it has thrived despite a constant, biting satirical show hosted by Stewart that consistently called out Fox News failures.  During the run of Stewart as host of “The Daily Show,” Fox News has spun lies even more than ever. It also has more devout followers that are increasingly distanced from any fact-based reality known to humanity.  Polls indicate that Fox News viewers are consistently swinging toward extremism that is hate-based and fact-averse..."

Jon Stewart wasn't all bad IMO, but he isn't as great as this article goes on to claim.

Fox News is out of business in two generations, just need some brainwashed old fucks to die of old age and we're good.

He is still better and more talented than the hack replacing him. Also jon should not bite the hand that fed him for so long and gave him so much materials to use. Jon may be responsible for the huge popularity of foxnews. He rarely made fun of msnbc, etc... So no one knew the other shows.

What about all the people who started watching foxnews 24/7, thanks to jon, just to catch them making a mistake live? foxnews does not care if you watch it for love or hate. As long as you watch the commercials and you do not switch the channel.

Good job jon. Foxnews will miss you

 ;D :D :D ;D

Despite some of the things that Jon Stewart has done that has ticked me off ( The way he treated Peter Schiff and so on ) he was always a proponent for freedom of speech on matter what. He even stuck up for people like Ron Paul who were getting completely shut out by the media and trying to censor him and wouldn't keep quiet over muslims killing people. I'm really not looking forward to when Trevor Noah comes onto the show, I've stopped watching now because Jon's stopped being his usual self and seems to be gliding to a safe departure. You can bet when Tevor takes over that he'll immediately begin towing the ideological line, there will be a huge drop in the ratings because of this and the media will inevitably claim anybody who doesn't want to watch him is racist, because you know, it can't possibly be people just won't find him that funny.

I hope I'm wrong and I hope that people won't be that spiteful and petty, but part of me just knows better these days.

Any link with Salon in it is a pass on clicking. :D

Just like Fox news,Stewart showed to have some bias towards the left. Think its hard to find a balance and play to the intelligence of the average person at the same time.

It's good to read a variety of views, even if you do not "fully endorse" the source.  I have (for example) read at least two good articles at Mother Jones, but would never, ever spend much time there.
