Some takeovers are good.

LDOGE seems to have had a successful takeover. Just a recent example.

Thanks Coinmin, there's a lot to be done but we're making steady progress. We should be finalising our choice of coin to fork from today and then we'll be starting work on the new wallets.

We're currently in the coding/design/testing phase but a swap will absolutely be going ahead once we have everything to our liking, even if that takes a few more weeks. Pretty much every aspect of the project will be overhauled and if all goes to plan the improved Moin will give holders a significant number of new features and give us a solid base upon which to build. We think people will be pleasantly surprised.

No takeover ever works. Ever.

Reason being that the purpose of the takeover is to salvage the investment of the bagholders that are the main holders of the taken over project, thus putting the project in the most disadvantageous situation possible with the unfairest distribution possible. Why would anyone in his right mind invest in a take over which is extremely unfairly distributed when they can choose hundreds of projects already working properly and/or fairly distributed if they want to go with new projects?

Failure is guaranteed.

I can think of one project just off the top of my head that's in a far better state since being taken over.
Regardless, no project has ever been taken over by us. Ever.

The most "disadvatageous situation possible" would be to have no team behind it at all. The "unfairest distribution possible" would be for all the coins to be in the hands of one person. MoinCoin had a PoW period comparable to most recent PoW->PoS coins, and distribution is ongoing. A Large chunk of the supply is just sitting on YoBit. One reason someone might decide to invest in this rather than some other project is that around 0.05 BTC will currently buy you around 1% of the entire supply, which is probably far cheaper than it would have been to mine it and probably far cheaper than to get a similar share in whatever AwesomeLogoCoins were launched by 0-activity devs today.

Nonetheless, we've no intention of trying to entice people to the project with rhetoric. Smart investors shouldn't be swayed by our words any more than by yours. Ultimately it'll be the work and development that does the talking, and it'll be the work and development that the project's judged upon. The rest is just noise.

Yes, sorry it's been a while since the last update. We're essentially done on the code side now just a little more testing and then the design work for the wallet/rebrand. Once that's done we'll post the swap instructions for everyone. Stay tuned.

We're edging closer to the swap now. I think we're going to increase the supply ten-fold with everyone getting back 10x the old Moin they burn. 800k just doesn't seem a sensible amount for a currency. We've a few other things in store. Sorry we've been so quiet, we intend to do this right so won't be releasing anything until it is ready. But we believe it will be well worth the wait.

So the new supply will be around 8 mil. Sounds reasonable. Are you also going to re brand the coin, graphics ect.?

There'll be new branding and graphics, a new wallet and a new set of features. We're going to drop the 'coin' part and just call it Moin. The graphics and branding are being worked on at this very moment so once they're done we'll be ready to launch. It's shaping up to be a far more serious proposition than the original.

We had a message from someone to let us know they were having trouble getting the wallet to sync. The below node will be up until the swap's completed (we'll set up more if necessary).

I think we must increase annual POS % let's say up to 100% per annum, instead of increasing total supply. In that way we will have a sensible amount for a currency very soon.

Hi, you can send the coins to your wallet as the swap isn't taking place on the exchange and you'll be able to earn some interest on them while supporting the network. We'll post instructions explaining how to swap them for new MOIN soon.

We've engaged the services of a professional graphic designer who's been working with us on the visuals for the new ANN, the project website and the design for the new wallets. The quality of the work he's delivered so far has been exceptional, we're very excited!

Great thanks! Sorry we've been so quiet, we've been very busy. A few final tweaks to the wallet design and we're done. The code's ready, the coins for the swap have been mined and we launch next week.  :)
