Title: Trying to buy a massive amount of hardware!!!
Post by: BellWether on July 20, 2015, 04:37:51 PM
Trying to buy a large amount of hardware. If anyone has any advice and can connect a large deal, we can cut a portion for a finders fee. I am completely unsatisfied with the current options on the market...

good luck. that is all I have to advise you.

Right now there is not much to buy.

A big buy needs to be used gear and there is not much at a good price.

That is some excellent advice.  Also some more information would be necessary, what are you looking into buying?  What is your budget?

Just some reference, I had bought over 100K worth of equipment from Bitmain throughout the S1 through S3 phases.  When I asked for a large deal discount and was ready to drop another 30K at once I wasn't given any extra off.

Since no one else is really selling equipment, you may just have to go with nothing or Bitmain.

You created a user just to post that?

That's pretty laughable.

Right now is actually very hard to buy great deals on hardware since there are no manufacteurs selling at decent prices and also all the used equipment is starting to go up in value because the BTC/USD price rose slightly.

Well to be fair this is kind've the best place to find out about bitcoin and which hardware to buy, i think it is understandable.

It's just that about once a week we have someone new ask about a big farm, start a conversation.  And nothing comes out of it.

I wish that they would search or go to speculation and see other threads there.  But others are right at this time it's hard to get the bulk at the moment.

Hey we all have to start someplace right but I agree searching would yeild a lot o valuable answers to his question but as a new user searching can seem frustrating with the wait times between searches before you past the newbie stage at least so I can understand the post for a quick answer from forum veterans

Yes we all start somewhere but we dont start with "massive amount of hardware!!!".  Maybe a miner or two and move up from there.

Just the scale of jumping in at massive amounts is kinda a mess.  Lots to learn very quick that way.

If you did any deals with anyone who can vouch for a address you have, then you might be able to get it back.

If so post in Meta about it, and have other person verify you used X address with them.  And sign a message with X address and there is a chance of recovery.

Local pickup only and they want to sell all at once.  I predict they have a hard time selling.

I predict within a week or so when they want to sell worse we see a price drop and possibly mailing miners.

I have some miners for sale 6 x Antminer S2's Local pickup in NY Metro Area. I also have 2 X Antminer C1's, and I think 6 Antminer S3's not a very massive amount of hardware but its a decent lot to start with and I am willing to accept resoable Offer

If you're looking for hosting on a massive scale, I'll have several free MWs in January.

You can't reason with the Chinese, not Avalon and not Bitmaintech. If it's above $1M you could ask Bitfury - also waiting for Spondoolies might be an option...

I dont think it's really fair to blame a entire race.....

I think getting so close to next gen is part of it.  Hopefully lketc, bitmain, SP, SFards, etc will all have some consumer gear once we hit next gen.

Let me fix that. I think you can't reason with the two Chinese Suppliers.

Hopefully only SP to have some gear. Speaking of blaming entire race I will vote for AVALON  Despite of the hate here against them. In tech terms they are the only ones who know what they are doing - exelenT hardware and a TRULY OPENED SOURCED CODE including PCB layout and PIC part - nobody (had done) is doing this at the moment. In business terms avalon learned their lesson with Yufo involvement stollen chips drama and so on and I do REALY hope that they have closed that chapter and have no business relations with comrades if this is possible at all in China .
