Hello,
Recetly in this forum i found out that you can have bluetooth or NFC bitcoin wallet but this information is not really out there to new people for bitcoin.

In usa or uk or other bigger countries internet on a mobile phone is a must but in other countries its either low signal or very expesive or areas with no connections. I think they should be bigger awarness about this when it comes to paying with a bitcoin in a coffee shop in a small village. Maybe im wrong but i never really found any information about this.

As far as a light client it takes VERY small amount of bandwith to send your BTC  through.   Even speed could be argued on sendng is not needed to be super fast.

If you did a full client yes it would take a lot of bandwith, but no one will be running a full node on their phone.

So all in all dont worry about it.

Bluetooth / NFC are really an extentsion to light weight wallets, they aren't NFC chips with built in wallets. They are usually phone based wallets with the phone using NFC / Bluetooth to transmit / receive the Bitcoin client commands

Bitcoin still evolves and is not accepted in many places. Personally I haven't seen any shops in small villages accepting bitcoin and I am sure that this situation won't change for many years.
Until then your mobile internet probably will be so advanced that you might be able to run full node wallet on your smartphone.

There is a thread discussing alternative Bitcoin clients, some of which can be used in areas with low bandwidth and on smart phones because they don't download very much data.

There are child threads there discussing each of the MultiBit wallet, Electrum wallet, and Bitcoin Wallet for Android. All those wallets can be used in low bandwidth situations, and Bitcoin Wallet for Android is especially suitable for smart phones.

There are ways to use the blockchain through ancient SMS technology now. In the future big whale will launch their own internet satellites, basically floating bitcoin nodes in the space that travel around the world. After that, everyone will have access to the blockchain as long as you have something as cheap as an ancient nokia.

You mean, you can send and receive bitcoins via SMS in the current times? I thought it is only in the development phase? ???

Exactly. There are many countries who are not aware about the bitcoins even in the metro cities people haven't heard or used the bitcoins. So it will take a time that small villages starts accepting the bitcoins and the internet speed in small villages is very low as compared to the metro cities So it will take time to get into the mainstream.

It is difficult to spend bitcoin if the customer AND the shop are both offline. If this is the case, it would be impossible to spend any form of electronic money including credit cards. I think this could be solved if the shop has a slow modem connection to a bitcoin node. Customers' app can use NFC to send a paying address to the register and the register will query the address, get a list of unspent outputs of the address, create a transaction, NFC the transaction back to the customers' app to confirm and sign. The shop register will then broadcast the TX and wait for confirmation.

It would be nice if apple pay or google wallet would include bitcoin as their currency, and paying everywhere with bitcoin

Lots of places offer this already. No idea how effective they are as you don't hear much about it, but they're out there. I presume you might still need viable internet to redeem them.

So that means a standalone SMS service wouldn't fulfill the traditional send and receive function offered by internet-based wallets without relying to internet per se. I wonder how are they going to implement this feature in the future. It would be nice to perform a transaction even without data internet connection and this might be appealing to countries in which only a few percent of their citizens have access to the internet.

It would take time as in many countries people don't have access to internet especially in villages So it will not be as easy as we are thinking. As many of the villagers don't use internet and if they have access to internet it would be very costly and the speed of internet would not match the criteria.

I know a few people who've been to Africa. Mobile phone coverage is insanely good in some very surprising places. That's why M Pesa is thriving. It's often not a case of lack of internet, it's more to do with hardware. Smart phones are getting cheaper all the time. Soon they'll push out the old school phones as they have in first world places.
