I'm thinking about who's the most contributed to the forum. contributed to this forum who has felt a lot of people here very helpful, maybe we can make a vote, list etc. an opinion from people around here about someone who made significant contribute and then added to the list as honor .

what do you think?
who's the most contributed to the forum?
what is the reason?

There were other users that suggested something like this, voting on great posting/posters.  I think it would be a very hard task to accomplish simply due to the fact that everyone is different and it would be quite hard to settle on the "most" contributive poster.

I would add Deathandtaxes to that list hes probably one of the ones who contributes the most. most you have listed only do escrow services etc and not contirubte much to the forum. especially maidak as he has recently scammed hundreds of dollars which never got resolved

thats what i mean! i need an opinion like what you did, i need someone like you to make TMC list.
need more opinion here to make people see the most contribute person around here is not just an escrow, people always shortsighted.
i believe here in the bitcointalk forum there is so many unknown heroes.
so lets make them get their honor here.


and then lets make this so as not biased by give us a good reason.

admins, staff members, mods etc was automatically in the list of the most contribute.
there is no reason why, because we all know why.


i'll add them to the list, would be great if you explain the reason so people here will get to know why. :)

I agree on John K, he was the reason that serious markets and trading were able to establish on here. Without him I doubt Friedcat would have been able to preorder on here. And probably Friedcat, he developed a lot of business and brought money to the forums. Although..... yeah.

I'd put the entire staff list before some of the people you've listed.

MICRO? Sure, he's an active and contributing member. But I'd definitely say hilariousandco would be have contributed more the the forums, modding Marketplace and having over 15k posts.
Not attempting to deride MICRO, but just showing how it would be impossible to create a list without missing out people.


That is poor justification of why the 'list' has missed out most staff, because quite a few Staff members are on the list!


Nobody on the existing list has a "reason" either.
Also, are there ever going to be fixed criteria? Or can everyone be added on some slight merit.

Opinions differ from person to person, so it's hard to make a list of great contributors which everybody agrees.

I would bet DannyHamilton does more to help out new users than anyone else. I think he does a great job!

The most contributed to the forum in what sense? mods contribute by keeping the forum clean. some people contribute by hunting scammers, helping newbies, and even spamming.  :P

I miss pirateat40 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=35827) on that list.
I mean, come on, where'd bitcointalk be without its legendary scammers? :P

In all seriousness this is a hard thing to properly answer though. What do you define as the top contributor to Bitcointalk? The person who moderates the most? The person who deals with scammers the most? The person who posts the most - or a mixture of everything?

ndnhc - No. I have no idea what this user contributed, except managing signature campaigns (which I don't really count as contributions).

Along with the scammers, it was epic threads like the 10.000 BTC pizza (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137.0) that made bitcointalk what it is today.

I appreciate the votes but I've never really been a fan of popularity contests as I have stated a couple of times before. I think there are many people who contribute great things to the forum in various and differing ways and with their own levels of expertise, but I think most people here at least contribute something to the community. If it wasn't for the massive userbase comprising of all sorts of people (from good to bad) this forum wouldn't be what it is today. I think theymos and Badbear have had a big part to play in that as well and I definitely think the way they chose to run the forum is for the best and I'm really glad we haven't got a couple of tiny tyrants in charge that will just delete or ban anyone that says something they don't like. Sure, being so lax with certain things regarding moderation can have its drawbacks but so does strictly policing a forum and removing anything that might vaguely offend someone and I think giving people as much freedom as possible to make their own choices and judgement is the best way to go.

And what about the trolls? Oh yeah, they are on "The List" elsewhere.  :)

Oh, lol, I am aware that all I did is manage some campaigns, and may be find some bugs in some sites. ;D

Satoshi is the guy whose contribution made the most solid change. How about some kind of classification, that listing everything together?
like we are actually putting everyone from the founder, admins to the scambusters and escrows together.

i may missed so many real contributor.
the suggestions like this needed to make the list more reasonable.

I think it might be a good idea to more clearly define "the most contributed" as the people on the list have contributed to the forum in very diverse ways and it will be very difficult to compare how much one person contributed verses another.

Sadly, I could not see Maged in these lists. Is it because he is inactive these days?

I'm pretty close to 100% certain that ndnhc is very, very trustworthy. I have no reputation here, I'm just a guy invested in bitcoin, learning every day & enjoying this place but ndnhc is possibly the nicest, kindest, most helpful person I've ever interacted with on here.

Once again my opinion means nothing but I thought I'd give it any way.

Oh yes of course! johoe deserves to be on the list more than most. He saved many, many people from getting bitcoins stolen during the re-used R value blockchain.info value.
He should be one of the most respected members here after that, he's kind of a bitcointalk hero.

He swept the wallets of vulnerable addresses to stop scammers & thieves doing it. He then returned every single satoshi.

I'm vote Danny Hammilton ( his explanation for every Q is magnificent)
also M.Zakir , bitcoininformation aka mitchell  , hilariousandco and shorena.

Giving my opinion,

I will say who I believe has contributed the most to the forum imo who done it because they wanted to and not part of a job description.

Quickseller for in his short time using that account he has surly helped many people on this forum from stopping scams to helping anyone who may need help and providing Escrow. Hat of to that member.

Vod for similar reasons as stated above.

shorena for being very helpful in most posts I see from that user and helps people understand who may not have without the help.

There are to many to list but these are the guys that jump out to me.

That's true but... OP is talking about most contributed people/person to the "forum". Like QS said, a clear definition for "the most contributed" is needed.


R values are not Blockchain.info values. R value is a value in signature of a transaction. See http://crypto.stackexchange.com/a/9695.

In all fairness I have been off Bitcointalk for the past month or so due to a lot of things. Moving back into it now though. Anyone who watches my posting history will note that I've had a decent amount of hiatuses throughout my time here ;)

as i said above , i was thinking about overall contribution. i mean every contribution to this forum who has felt a lot of people here very helpful. maybe i should mention in op.
i know it will be very difficult to compare it , but at least we will try to collect opinions and then decide.
after collected and decided who's deserve on the list, maybe we can divide into several contribution categories in the future

I think the people who most contributed to this forum would be.

First of all.
Theymos. It's not easy to keep this forum protected and up and running with all those hack attempts.

After that.
Admins and Mods.The forum is too active, it's hard to keep track of things and watch out for all the wrongs and fix them.
Which includes:
Badbear
SaltySpitoon
Hilariousandco
mprep
Mitchell
Cyrus
And all of the rest.
 
And then.
All the members who watch out for scams and are technically advanced and they really help others keep safe and sort out their problems and the forum's trusted escrows.

I think that every name in all the lists listed here are big contributors. But to be fair needed to do something else before. Be specified all the factors one by one that must make someone entered in this list. In this way something will be clear and will not be entered people that has not make all the contributes needed. Some maybe are made some things and some others some other things. Not everyone can deserve to be part of this "hall of fame" of bitcointalk.

Good point I think. Maybe all the staff and the moderators can be together and fix those factors who can make someone to part of the chosen. Their names must be in a main thread pined somewhere so someone can read it and learn who has contributed more here. Or even ask help in hard situations.

yes you right they are. the factors chosen by people around here, i mean by giving a name and an reasonable opinion what factor that makes the name deserve in the list.
all opinion will be collected first. and then if there is any opinion that says the name is not feasible, we will discuss together, make a vote and decide. so, i really need so many opinion here.
