Title: Bitcoin Forum > Search - Historic Posts
Post by: bitone on July 27, 2015, 08:45:14 PM
I would like to do some research in the Speculation Child Board.

Therefore I would like to read all Messages posted between 392 and 394 days ago.

But I can't figure out how to set the search parameter. When I leave "Search for:" empty, I get the Message "Did you forget to put something to search for?".

I can vaguely remember, that it was possible to do this kind of searches, maybe 2 years ago.

Thanks for your support in advance!

The board is sorted by the last reply's date automatically, so you may spot for threads with last reply of 392-394 days before. However there's no feature for searching posts from specific dates, even if you use Google.
However if you want to see the price that time, you may just search for charts and they are probably giving the rate at that time to you.

You can use google search.

392 days ago (from today) was 'July 3, 2014'
So, in google search, search for bitcointalk "July 3, 2014,"

Check if that works?

Slightly off topic, but the site's internal search system seems to be behaving strangely for me the last couple of days, unrelated returns.

Maybe going back to last page is the easy way for now and you dont need to search for it

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search;advanced. Set 'Message age' accordingly.

The OP has done that, he is asking why he can't enter an empty search term and have it return all the results between the dates. I don't think you could ever do this in SMF, it's to limit database load.

Uh! Thank you!

I think entering vowels(or all alphabets)(with space in between) as search terms and changing "Match all words" to "Match any words" is a nice way to find all* posts.

* You may not get "all" posts.
