(UK) — The fate of Liam Lyburd (https://www.google.com/search?q=Liam+Lyburd&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=Liam+Lyburd&tbm=nws&tbs=qdr:d), 19, a deranged teen hacker accused of planning a mass murder at his former college in Newcastle, is now in the hands of a jury.

The crypto teen pleaded guilty to nine charges related to making five pipe bombs, two home-made explosive devices, possessing a handgun, bullets and CS gas. He denies eight charges of possessing those items with an intent to endanger life at Newcastle College.

Lyburd, a talented hacker, used the digital currency Bitcoin (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3172374/Teenager-stockpiled-weapons-explosives-carry-mass-murder-former-college.html) to buy the 9mm Glock gun on the Deepweb – a dark and secret part of the internet not visited by normal law abiding citizens. Yesterday, during his trial, the defendant, who claims to be an internet troll (http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-tyne-33681143), stated:

"Buying a gun was just like buying a bar of chocolate. I didn’t see it as a big deal at the time. I never thought I would get arrested, I thought I would keep it in my bedroom. No one would ever know."

Police were alerted by an online friend of the teenager who grew concerned about his Facebook posts. The crazed computer nerd allegedly laughed when he initially told officers his plans for getting revenge on his former college classmates.

"I wanted people to panic a little bit,” he said. “I wanted people to be tearing their hair out, thinking I was going to do it."

Officers found a ‘kill bag’ stocked with an array of homemade bombs and a Glock handgun, which prosecutors said he planned to use in carrying out a brutal revenge attack. In a note, he wrote how he intended (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3172374/Teenager-stockpiled-weapons-explosives-carry-mass-murder-former-college.html) to ‘teach you people a little lesson on respect’ with his bullets, the court also heard. The jury is expected to deliver its verdict this week.

Two amazing things right out of the box: Bitcoin is for terrorists to buy their weapons and deepweb is for pedophiles and drugs sellers ::) Mainstream media still paint Bitcoin in a really dark way, and they also think deepweb only suits illegal things... When will people start being informed of what's really the truth and not someone's distorted vision of things? It's absolutely impressive and disgusting they take every piece of bad news to give a bad image to Bitcoin. And even more awful that a website named altcoinpress is going by these things...

There's no question about it; the guy was up to no good, but let's be honest for a second here; if bitcoin wasn't an option, he would find another way,
there was bad and insane people way before bitcoin. I know it makes it easier for people to purchase weapons now, but he could of gotten it from a local
dealer for USD as well. And there would be noone attacking or flaming fiat money in that case.

cheers

If "normal" people dumped in on this site they would think they had entered a dark and forbidden place.

Anonymity and hiding from goverments is the big thing here. Almost as big as it is on dedicated tinfoil hat sites.

Oh, and anyone who knows anything about Bitcoins and how to access deepweb is a hacker.
I bet this kid just read a few FAQs and how-to's and that's the extent of his hacking knowledge.

Psychotic kids have been shooting up their schools & colleges for decades. Bitcoin is not really responsible for this like you said. It makes me laugh that when something illegal is bought with bitcoin the media make a big deal out of it. Drugs, prostitution, murder, violence has been rife since time began but no, let's blame this all on bitcoin. Pathetic really, lazy journalism.
