Title: [WTS] Spondoolies SP20 - malfunctioning unit
Post by: OgNasty on August 01, 2015, 05:01:26 PM
I have an SP20 that has been running for close to a year now.  Suddenly it is not mining and I cannot locate it on my network.  It has run underclocked the entire time, so I don't believe it would have overheated.  It turns on and appears normal, so I am assuming that the controller died.  I am just guessing...

Anyone wanting to purchase this unit, please feel free to make an offer.  I haven't so much as opened the unit, so for all I know it could be a loose wire that might pop back into place during shipping.  Who knows...

have u tried to microSD recover/ boot it?
that fixes a surprisingly humongous chunk of the sp20's issues

Nope.  I don't have a microSD card.  Ideally, I'd like to find someone willing to take the risk and offer enough to make it worth it for me to be lazy and ship it away.  If nobody is wanting to take the risk at a decent price, I will explore fixing it.  I do believe this is a good candidate for someone to easily fix, but what do I know...

I'm not 100% set on a price.  Hoping to hear some offers.

Just tossing some thoughts out there...  These things appear to be selling for around $600 at the moment.  I figure this one has a good shot of being easily revived.  I think for $400 in BTC I could let it go without feeling too bad if it's up and running after a quick reflash/reboot.

$400 is way too much to risk on a broken unit when working units can be found for $400 to $500 with a bit of patience and luck. These things don't just fail randomly, and they run vibration free so I doubt a wire popped out of place. I'd be willing to risk $200 shipped to try to revive it, but not $400.

Let me know if you want to take me up on my offer.
