Title: HELP! How to mine with "Dragon USB Miner 144Khs"
Post by: kanazawa on August 01, 2015, 08:59:41 PM
Does anyone knows how to mine with this cheap piece of "miner":

https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.elangcyber.net%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2015%2F01%2FUSB-Dragon-Scrypt-144Khs.jpg&t=554&c=eXvpjdl8b_UryA (https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.elangcyber.net%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2015%2F01%2FUSB-Dragon-Scrypt-144Khs.jpg&t=554&c=eXvpjdl8b_UryA)

I mean... there a discussion on a indonesian topic in this forum, but, not a killer answer. --- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=921583.0;all

Paid U$12 and as just of a experience of mining altcoins, it's fair.

So, I just saw this commands line, but none of them really usefull:

cgminer.exe --scrypt - o stratum + tcp: //66.55.92.73: 8000 -u xxx -px --zeus-chips 1 --zeus-clock 230-series --scan //./COM2 ----------no success

bfgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://ltc.ghash.io:3333 -u xxxxx -p xxxx -S all --set zeusminer:clock=328 --set zeusminer:chips=128 --------- no success at all

..........

So, There's nothing in the manufacturer's website; nothing from the salesman on aliexpress.

Even put some "default" commands it does'nt work.

Does anyone know how to config this miner ----- (I searched lot before open this topic).

This was the first try.

Even the salesman tell to do this way.

But it stand with every values on 0 (zero);

This way the miner keep stopped. Doesn't work.

ps.: the seller told me that it just works in Windows XP. I said ****  him.

but thanks anyway  8)

It's just a stupid board HAHAHAHAHAHA

If nobody knows anything about it, it must be some SCAM.  ???

Even when you click in CGMINER.exe and run the normal pattern it doesn't work.
even doin' what the pool server told it doesn't work --- you know, create a .bat file "cgminer.exe -scrypt -o POOL -u USER -p PW" and with some variants;

there's post in somewhere (really don't remember) that cgminer 4.3.5 works with this;

some said it needs TITAN Scrypt setting, etc (I think it's crap, 'cause cgminer is always better with new version);

So... somebody would say something....

You're very impatient.  Wanted to make sure I got at least one accepted share :)

Anyway - I hadn't fired it up in a very long time (its 8GB storage makes for a good secondary place to put drivers, software, documentation for all my other stickminers though).. that said, plugged it into this machine (first time - previous messing about with it was on another computer), waited for driver (CP2102 - only because the one I had was zadig'd away) install, change pool config (one I had was no longer valid) and off it went.

Here's the GUI:
https://i.imgur.com/Y2AMS28.png (https://i.imgur.com/Y2AMS28.png)

Here's cgminer command line:
https://i.imgur.com/EIqTj6V.png (https://i.imgur.com/EIqTj6V.png)

Command line used:
Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -u 15oME1MHKgz1WK3scxCf8eLZJDfMLTDdZz -p pocketdragon -o stratum+tcp://eu.clevermining.com:3333 --clock 200 --chips 1 -S //./COM29
( should probably have used d=128 as the password for clevermining, but anyway )

Edit: Live stats (I'll leave it running overnight, keep in mind that variance means it'll probably bounce up and down like crazy) at: http://clevermining.com/users/15oME1MHKgz1WK3scxCf8eLZJDfMLTDdZz

So, what's about it:

https://i.imgur.com/zwbUKNP.png

And that's the command line:

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -u XXXX-p XXXXX -o stratum+tcp://ltc.ghash.io:3333 --clock 200 --chips 1 -S //./COM29

This is what appears:

https://i.imgur.com/5HtU3wK.png

then, when you take "-" off:

https://i.imgur.com/MaSdbbs.png

So...

I don't know, something, or somebody is wrong....

Could you tell me, please ? ---- p.S: don't tell me it's the COM29, 'cause I changed to COM2,COM3 and ALL.

Thnks.

no, COM29 would be machine-specific.  I've had way too many virtual serial ports on this machine already and 29 was the next one to get assigned ;)  You can find out which port it's on through Device Manager.

That said.. you're using cgminer 4.9.2?  I have no idea how cgminer 4.9.2 would even behave with this.  The official builds don't support scrypt anymore, so it probably wouldn't really do anything.  Even if it did, you'd probably have to zadig the driver.  The version I'm using is version 3.1.1 which I think is also the version that comes with the device; explore the USB drive section.

And that's with the ORIGINAL drive;

When Zadig the file to WinUSB (to work in cgminer.exe 4.9.2 or 3.7, 4.3, etc) it doesn't work too.

--- even the GREEN/RED leds; they don't blink HAHAHAH ---

No, it doesn't work.

It just worked as you saw before. 0 0 0 0 --- means it's not working, not mining, it's just ON.

The seller also tell me: "OO you got Win7, so you must take a VM to install WinXP, it just works on XP". I said: "you'r what?"... it doesn't work on a VM of WinXP even witha  machine install version, it's crap".

So, guys, c'mon, Antminer U2 (USB 2GH/S BTC) i.e, was fairrly easy to use, it was just a metter of configuring --icarus and just set on fire.

I'm just gonna go with PEBKAC here.  The pool stats of Accepted / Rejected can take a good while.  In about 13 hours of hashing, I only got 416 accepted shares.  That's 1 share every 2 minutes or so, but it took a lot longer than that just to see the first one.

Leave it running longer, review pool config (check pool difficulty), etc. and maybe try again with cgminer direct instead of the GUI - but don't try to use 4.9.2 again.

I zadig the drive. OK

I put
Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -u 15oME1MHKgz1WK3scxCf8eLZJDfMLTDdZz -p pocketdragon -o stratum+tcp://eu.clevermining.com:3333 --clock 200 --chips 1 -S //./COM29

changed pool to f2pool.com:8888 LTC

it don't recognize --scrypt

I'm trying cgminer 3.11, 3.12, 3.27, 4.3.

If could help me a little more.

Title: Re: HELP! How to mine with "Dragon USB Miner 144Khs"
Post by: TheRealSteve on August 02, 2015, 01:19:53 PM
No, you don't Zadig it.  Use the original CP2102 drivers. You'd only use Zadig with newer versions of cgminer, which don't even support scrypt; which would be why it says it doesn't recognize "--scrypt".

You're trying cgminer 3.11 - that's not the same as 3.1.1.

Again, look at the USB drive portion of this miner, you should have a folder there with the appropriate cgminer that also supports the custom flags for this miner (it's the same cgminer being used by the GUI utility).  If you replaced that, look for the .rar file in root that has the originals.

it doesn't work.

I quit.

Pass the whole config or this is it. You sell this? 'Cause the seller also told me it works, but no one has made this miner up(on).

No, I'm not a (re)seller.  The only reason I even have one myself is because it's a StickMiner (albeit for Scrypt, but it was unique enough to warrant getting one when I saw it up for sale for cheap).

If you got the screen where it's showing a hash rate (which looked okay for 3 devices plugged in - presuming you did have 3 of them plugged in) - it should already be working as that's a number cgminer calculates automatically from work returned by the hardware; just give it time to show shares accepted/rejected for the pool.

Again, though, mine worked pretty much out of the box ( config is in post somewhere above, but tl;dr: plug in, wait for driver install, run GUI, adjust pool, off it goes.  Maybe one detail, that's also in cybtc's guide, is that I probably changed the switch position to the corner when I first messed with it.  Don't ask me what that switch does, I never checked :) ) - if you just cannot get it working on your machine for whatever reason, see if you can return them, or put them up for sale.. see if somebody else has better luck with their machine.. the hardware itself  - barring any actual defects - should be fine.

Hi
I build a slighty moddified cgminer
You to use LTKEC.com scrypt usb stick with last version of cgminer on linux

you can download there : https://wareck@bitbucket.org/wareck/cgminer-dragon.git (https://wareck@bitbucket.org/wareck/cgminer-dragon.git)

Code:
git clone https://wareck@bitbucket.org/wareck/cgminer-dragon.git
cd cgminer-dragon
sh autogen.sh
./configure --enable-scrypt --enable-zeus
make

and then to use it :

Code:
./cgminer --scrypt -o pool_address -u user_or_ltc-address -p password --zeus-chips 1 --zeus-clock 200

i not have any problems with this device working in windows...
the software provided by the seller (inside the 8GB flash drive) work fine. Install the drivers, and use the LK-controller welcome screen (will work in cg-miner)

Note... i have problems in some pools, but work fine in ispace.co.uk - and is a 0%fee pool
If you need, i send pictures

Stupid idea but did you look online to see if you had the right drivers..?

I know depending on what version of windblows you are using you needed to install different drivers for the older USB miners in order to get them to do anything more than light up LED's

I'd look into it for sure.,. surely someone has a help guide for these devices done up.

FINALLY got mine working (after receiving it in the mail about an hour ago). To get it working on Windows, open explorer, locate device and click on it to open. Now, open Notepad, copy the following, paste it to Notepad, and save file as "XXwhateverXX.bat" to the folder named "LK-01 控制程序" (when saving the file in Notepad, you will need to change "Save as Type" from ".txt Files" to "All Documents" before you can save it as a .bat file)

Copy the following to Notepad & save as your .bat file:

cgminer.exe --scrypt -u XxYour_UsernamexX -p x -o XxURL/Address_of_miningxX --clock 200 --chips 1 -S //./COMx (you will need to open Control Panel & navigate to "Device Manager" so you can find out what COM number your device is using, then replace the x after COMx with that number)

Once you have properly saved that .bat file to the "LK-01 控制程序" folder on your device, simply double-click on it to start mining!

If you need help, feel free to PM me and I will gladly help you!   ;)

Even if this topic is very old I just want to leave a note here.

I bought this USB miner stick as well. With the help of this thread here I was able to get it working at least with it's core frequency (for me the switch isn't working, too).

However I've written down how to use this stick step by step on my blog. If you bought one of this sticks as well, this may helps you to get it working: http://www.mybitcoin.space/2017/02/how-to-mine-ltc-scrypt-with-asic-miner.html

Does anyone currently have this working?  I can't get past  "Waiting for work to be available from pools.  No servers were found that could be used to get work from"

I've tried litecoinpool.org:

stratum+tcp://litecoinpool.org:3333   (London, UK)
stratum+tcp://us.litecoinpool.org:3333   (New York, USA)
stratum+tcp://us2.litecoinpool.org:3333   (San Francisco, USA)

and port 8080 for the proxy.

I've also tried prohashing.com:3333

EDIT: also I have tried both the raspberry pi instructions and the software on the stick (both GUI and command line).

You need to use the COM port.  For example, on a Windows machine, use the cgminer that came with the unit.  I just write a batch file directly to the unit.  This is important, as the official release doesn't appear to be modified to use this miner.  Same goes for bfgminer.

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://gmc.suprnova.cc:7351 -u username -p password --clock 200 --chips 1 -S //./COM5
pause

In my case, my miner is on COM5.  Use device manager to find your COM port(s).  If you have more than one, I believe you add them like follows

Code:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://gmc.suprnova.cc:7351 -u username -p password --clock 200 --chips 1 -S //./COM5//./COM6//./COM7
pause

Also, the clock can go up to 400, but generates additional heat.

How many of these guys do you need to actually be profitable? Say, $2 a day?

EDIT: seems like you would need 8 or 9 of these guys to make about $2 bucks a day - considering free electricity.

Is that right?

Nope.  Look again, those figures are per month!  The correct figures are at https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/ltc?HashingPower=24000&HashingUnit=KH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=0&CostPerkWh=0.12 (https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/ltc?HashingPower=24000&HashingUnit=KH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=0&CostPerkWh=0.12)  So, to answer your question, at least 166.

I haven't tried suprnova.cc yet so I'll give it a try when I get home.  Just to verify that you are using the cgminer that was provided in the 8GB on the ASIC right?

Correct.

I have tried flipping the switch to both positions. Do i have a bad unit???

I didn't touch the switch at all.  It's always possible that it's bad, however, it sounds like you're not connecting to to the server at all.  What happens if you ping gmc.suprnova.cc?

I can ping and telnet into that port.  Did setup the worker and password correctly?

Hmm, I'm not sure what to tell you.  Your command line looks good.  I wish I had a better answer for you.  When you use the LKcontroller.exe that's on the drive, does it still fail?

@Sir William

I'm still not able to connect on windows.  I registered with suprnova.cc and created a worker.  I am using the worker login and worker password. I have tried flipping the switch to both positions. Do i have a bad unit???

c:\Users\young\Desktop\LK-01>cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://gmc.suprnova.cc:7351 -u login.WorkerName -p WorkerPassword --clock 200 --chips 1 -S //./COM4

Seems like you are starting your created *.bat file from your Desktop, try to move this file into the drive location to LK folder and start from there...

I copied the files from the drive... that being said I tried as you requested and copied the bat file to the drive and still get the same results.
