Title: Building a small CPU farm, need inputs regarding choice of cpu.
Post by: Cryptozillah on August 02, 2015, 04:57:22 AM
I am about to build 4-6 CPU rigs with stuff i have layung since my GPU mining days.

I have alot of Asrock H81-Pro boards sitting in alu frames.
So. I am about to buy some Intel socket 1150 cpu:s now.

What cpu is the best bang for the buck here ? I5 or I7 ?

I would need some inputs here.

What are you buying the hardware for? Is this for mining or something else?

You've posted in the bitcoin mining support section and even an RPi is powerful enough to run any mining hardware available today.

I know of no sha-256 mining that using an intel cpu makes any sense at all.  If you want the cpu part of your rig to mine coins you should post this in alt coins.  Maybe there is a worthwhile alt coin for cpu mining.

If you want to mine sha-256 coins such as btc or nmc with a cpu you are wasting money and energy do not do it.
