Title: MtGox unusual txn - Interesting bitcoin graphs/visualizations on BlockSeer
Post by: danny_at_blockseer on August 03, 2015, 11:39:51 PM
BlockSeer let's you visualize many bitcoin transactions at once, which makes it great for seeing patterns that were previously hidden. Feel free to share interesting graphs that you find. (And you can add a bitcoin donation address to the graph description if you wish to be tipped for interesting graphs.)

Here's one that I came across recently concerning MtGox:

https://www.blockseer.com/g/i0qvo1rOrro3

It shows the address 1KLahQtqDNAXvrjNyfvgSBtAhwco5ZxLp4 being spent in Aug 2014, much after MtGox was shut down. 1KLahQtqDNAXvrjNyfvgSBtAhwco5ZxLp4 should be controlled by MtGox because it was used by MtGox to consolidate over 400,000 BTC back in 2011.

Please share interesting graphs in this thread!

The Bitcoins that are due to be returned through the Kraken might have been moved out of MtGox addresses after it closed. The courts or liquidators might have moved them to new wallets to ensure Mr Karples couldn't control them anymore. They wouldn't be stupid enough to leave them in addresses controlled by him in the past.

That makes sense. The following movements just seem unusual. On Nov 15, 2014 they were moved again, to 4 separate addresses. And on Nov 28, 2014, these 4 addresses were all spent in different transactions. And on Dec 2, 2014, once again all were spent.
