Title: Spam Bot to Hack users on the Forum
Post by: seoincorporation on August 07, 2015, 04:07:23 PM
Hi to all bitcoin users.

A guy has been hacking lots of users and stealing lots of bitcoins from this site and gambling sites. The modus operandi is basic, he spam a message about cloud mining offering 0.5 btc for free... You Open the page and download the Mining software, double click and boom! you have a nice trojan on your pc.

The problem is when the scam got automated... the fucking hacker only need to run a script to start spamming on gabling sites, and post the same thread in all the forum sections:

http://s8.postimg.org/d4isc3ztx/spam.png

I know some of the forum rules, and one of them is to not erase scams to have it as an evidence... but if the forum will allow bots to spam as hell with the goal to hack the users, then this will become a not cool place.

At last you could give a warning or make the moderators of each section give a warning about this, because if you the forum owners and moderators only will stay there and watch how the users got hacked, then the moderators on the forum are nonsense.

I hope to not offence the forum staff, but how can you stay there just watching while a hacker is spreading a trojan over the site? that's not cool  :-\

This isn't allowed. This will be removed when the appropriate staff member comes online in fact someone of them have already been removed in section where the moderator has high enough privileges.  Probably be banned too.

This is not allowed. I have reported probably close to 40 of his posts, and reported him in this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1082790.0;all) thread that I created a while ago when another user was doing the same thing.

40 posts? and how many did you report of the other guy in that thread? You must higher than 1000 reports now which probably the highest who isnt a staff member

Thx for your fast replay, nice to know the forum is taking care about that scammer. There was a thread talking about that hacker (i can't found it now), but he have make close to 200 btc or more with this, and i think is a serious problem. Hope we can find a way to stop him.

As soon as a mod sees the reports come in I'm sure he'll be banned, which hopefully will be in the next few minutes or so.

A little off topic but it would be a great if the new forum software could pick up on identical posts coming from the same user, autoban them for a set amount of time and notify staff about it. It would cut down on occurrences like this, plus make staff jobs easier by not having to delete as many spam posts.

Probably be hard too. They would just add characters to each repost, to disguise it self from the filter. For example, adding a "-" every single new post. I guess a system which could prevent people from posting a post consisting of 75%+ of the same content could be blocked, or put on a queue to be approved. I don't know if it's needed though, not many instances like this. A few and they normally get dealt with pretty quick.

I reported him too. Wait just a question , is it a hacked account ? It is Full Member and his account is already 1 year old and no one want to waste that kind of account.

Thanks for watching out. I hate trojans and have been accidental victim of a few. Cheap insurance is to download and run free Malwarebytes anti malware. NFI the program saved my butt in the past. There are more advanced scanners but the free one works very well if you need help.

Handled ones I could. Think I handled over 100+ reports on this user alone.

I think you missed one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1146546.msg12079025#msg12079025

It is filed in securities and it is showing you as being the moderator of that section.

That article he is posting is fake. The domain is not the real coindesk and the article links to a fake bitmain domain that will try to scam you by selling fake coupons/vouchers.

I don't know how people fall for this shit! He obviously needs to be banned but if anything seems too good to be true it normally is.
I treat this forum like a hooker, I stick to the simple stuff & make sure I'm always protected, don't go anywhere that may be infected.

Seriously you don't get anything good for free in this world. Stop falling for these scams. I rarely even click on links here, there are too many scum bags & uber geeky, techie experts desperate to steal your hard earned bitcoins. Play it safe & you will be ok.

If you're ignorant enough to download software from a link in this forum....

You deserve to be nailed.
