Of course such polls are of questionable value anyway.  Who's more likely to vote at all?  People with more BTC or less?  Or something more in the "middle"?

It's just like everything else, more than 90% of the wealth is held by less than 10% of the people (and I'm in the wrong 10%).

Ah, but as more people use bitcoin they will be spread thinner.  Someday, perhaps, the standard unit will be a Satoshi instead of a bitcoin.  Perhaps pizza will cost 5,000 Satoshi, and the average person will hold about 1,000,000 Satoshi (about 0.01 BTC).  When there are that many people using it and it is spread that thin (assuming that you haven't lost/spent the BTC that you have right now), you will be in the top 10% and will have significant wealth.  You just have to wait for bitcoin to gain enough popularity ;-)

That's an interesting thought.  At what point in the life cycle (in other words market price) of Bitcoin does the Satoshi or for that matter the mbit become the standard?  Average Joe Blow out there doesn't like dealing with numbers that have more than two decimal points.

Then develop "CommieCoin"!  Coins are distributed from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.

Mining operators making over a certain amount would be taxed at say, 75% (vive Le France).  These coins would be sent to an elected Parliment (maybe you!) where they can be equally distributed among the needy.

After the Parliment's overhead costs, of course.

oh hell no!  lol.  Okay, not completely.  I'm just saying, most investors move things around and keep like 5% gold in their portfolio and do graduated risk level segments and all that crap and think they're so clever.  What they forget to do is also sell off some of their non-USD assets and pocket it as the price goes up.  You can always re-buy.  It's not really hedging your portfolio if all you do is watch the numbers go up without doing anything about it.  If the economy tanks, kiss almost every category goodbye somewhat evenly, lol.

If I had 10,000 BTC, 1,000 of them would have been sold as soon as it stabilized at $12 for a week or two.  At $13, I'd sell another 500 and probably 250 more at every dollar raise that stays level for a week or more.  Nobody knows what's really going to happen at the 25 BTC split and when ASICs come out but there are strong arugements each way.  That's why I'd have half my BTC off the market by then just in case.  If it goes up, you win, just slightly less.  If it goes down, you also win because you pulled half of them early at a high price.

I sold a bunch at $18 a piece and kept the rest. If Bitcoin crashes, I won't feel like I missed out on the cash...I kept a bunch as well, so if Bitcoin takes off, I won't be upset for having sold out. I got mine for basically nothing...back when CPU mining was possible, even on a laptop.

Good observation, this is always the case, even if you distribute the coin very evenly from the beginning, at the end some people will end up with more and more coins and some people will even have a debt, the income/spending habit is different for each person, seems that we can not really do a lot about it, just ensure the poorest people have a decent life maybe

Thanks for acknowledging my observation for what it was...just an observation.  From some of the harsh comments afterward I think some thought I was whining, or making some kind of slight against my “betters”, but that was not the case.

I’m totally against forced redistribution of wealth (i.e.. taxation) and can only hope that those top 10%’ers are benevolent and voluntaristic.  I’m not sure how to “ensure the poorest people have a decent life” without forcing some kind of welfare.  That would be more of what we already have with the state forcing the redistribution.  Maybe limits on holdings before they are forced to “invest” in growth industries.   That type of thing would be better than taxation.  It would be more like borrowing from the rich. 

To the above posts, remember that bitcoin is not wealth. If you cannot multiply something to make people better off, that thing is not wealth.

I stumbled across this thread and was astonished to see the results.  half the people polled here said they had 100K coins !!  That is 360 million at today's price!!  That is just incredible to me.  How many people cashed out to early and how many made millions ?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Lol a whole lot of people do not say how much bitcoin or cryptocurrency they have, remember there are more dangerous soldiers around than only whales, whales are soft guys that are rich and have invested heavily on bitcoin, or they were early investors, other people hunting whales like they are a prey, so dont expect people to just give out how much bitcoins they have lol.
Me on the other hand I have some little amount in bitcoin, and not a whole number of bitcoin, I have whole numbers on omg, neo, and pay/tenx.

I too have invested some in an array of altcoins.  That being said I will be buying a few bitcoins along with ethereum and litecoin.   I dont want to look back ten years from now and have huge regrets. If I lose all the money so be it.

Most of bitcoin appears to be in very very few people's hands.

I see first place is >100 BTC.
It's very large amount for me.. Really big money.
I don't understand how possible earn this big BTC today.

They are the early adopters, and this was back before many rich Chinese, and others, bought in.

For now I have less than 10 BTC, I can't save my bitcoin because I used my earning to my family needed. Sometimes I buy the things that I want using also bitcoin, but for now since I the value of bitcoin is continue increasing I try to save some of bitcoin for the future value and future needed in case of emergency.

Currently I have about 8 btc that I store on 3 web wallets ie blockchain, xapo and coinbase. I have a bitcoin from the exchanger I've collected since early 2016, I'm glad that I'm able to hold bitcoin because I'm sure bitcoin prices will keep going up.

currently i only have 1btc, because i am using my bitcoin regularly, i only have 1 btc for my savings and the rest is for our financial needs, hoping that i could acquire more and more in that case it will be good for me to settle my life early.

It's really hard to earn more than 10BTC now especially the price of the bitcoin is sky high, many people are struggling like me to even earn 1 BTC and that's no surprise because many people have started earning bitcoin when it got popular or when the price went high. There are many ways to earn bitcoin faster than signature campaigns and faucets but you need skills like coding, developing, designing and etc. so that you will be able to really earn high amount of bitcoins but its really hard to get those skills if you don't have any background of those or if you did not go to school for those specific areas. For me I'm still studying to learn to code and hopefully I'll learn and be successful in the future.

I can see the poll much richest peoples are here. I think they buy btc and hold them until price go up. I don't have enough BTC because i am supporting my family with this side income. I use it for my daily basis and also try to save it for future. The people who have more BTC are mostly the ones who already have more fiat and they convert it into bitcoins. Other than that it is very difficult to earn many bitcoins and then save them too.

Same on me. I only have little now and keep working to have more through earning them by joining signature campaign. When time comes that I have enough amount, aside from spending it in buying things and paying my expenses, I will use it for investment and trade some to gain more profit in return.

I only have a few because I sometime run out of money, but if ever I would compute all the bitcoin that I've earned so far it would amount to 1 btc. I wanted to save my bitcoin but, whenever I need money I withdraw some of my bitcoin. I know that bitcoin is a good investment and that I would benefit from it in the future if I could save a lot.

I have never felt storing bitcoin in whole quantities such as 1 BTC or 2 BTC, because I need bitcoin as a university fee.
usually I often save 0.5 - 0.8 it's the most during my time in the world of cryptocurrency, so hopefully in the future I can store bitcoin in the number of units

I have less than 5 but I am seeking more knowledge to earn more and this platform is also helping me a lot so I don’t have any issue about the numbers. There are people that are even have more than 20 bitcoins. And the amount of bitcoins I have is not even on the poll and I don't want to say how many bitcoins I have because it doesn't matter and it will not even multiply if I'll tell you guys on how many I have. I just have bitcoin less than 10, couples bitcoin be used for trading altcoins and the other be used for investment into the projects of ico, i don't put all of my money into bitcoin because i must manage my portofolio investment, will being dangerous for my financial if i don't manage it, basically it is just part of management of risk in investment strategy, i have made investment into stocks market too, it will makes the risk and profit more calculating.

I think we should do business strategy to not focus on one business area only, of course this is to anticipate all possibilities that occur if a field of business has decreased.
Although with a budget of less than 10 btc it seems still feasible to get a good profit and be able to get a bright future

May be they are just preparing a sort of analysis of people’s investments and shares in bitcoins or they want to prepare a report of total people using bitcoins and other crypto currencies. Well I have no bitcoins these days because I am researching on bitcoins and their working.

Oh that’s nice if your brother is one of the luckiest people who invested into bitcoins long time ago. Bitcoins indeed have the power of turning poor into rich and rich into richer and so on. I know only one person personally who is successfully earning good amount of money with bitcoins and he is my classmate.

You just keep working hard and soon you will be holding large number of bitcoins. There are still many good options of earning bitcoins because they are not too much expensive now as they are expected to be after five years. Bitcoins have become essential for living a lavish life in the present era.

Just stick to your goal and invest little bit amount into it and this will give you bunch of profit not m having 8 bitcoins in my pocket and I am waiting for the bit dump to buy more so that I can hold them for the time when market rate will be more than 5000USD. Don't worry mate! Just continue to work hard and you will eventually earn some more bitcoin. All of us started with lesser amount of bitcoin and it is up to us how to increase it. I don't have even one bitcoin right now because I am spending what I earn from here because of urgent needs but one day, I am hoping that I will be able to accumulate much more coins because I am positive bitcoin's price will continue to grow. If we just keep on earning then one day, without noticing it we will be able to accumulate big amount and all our work will pay off.

I do not have much Bitcoin because I convert them to fiat money once I received my Bitcoin payment.  If only there is a store that accept bitcoin directly in my country, I would have not converted them, but there is none and we need to live.  But if ever I got an earning that will supply my needs plus extra, I would definitely keep that extra in Bitcoin.

Everybody can surely vote what ever they want and I think that this is just an estimation on how many bitcoin that they got and I think nobody would get's to serious about revealing their bitcoin, it is up top them if they would tell the truth on how much bitcoin they have, I think this is really not needed in getting info about how much bitcoin they truly have the percentage will always surface even if they don't truth say it.

wow, that's very much. even I do not currently have that much bitcoin. well, but that's a good thing having almost 2 btc. all you need to do now is wait for a high price before selling it.

When I first started working with bitcoin, then I have only 0.005 bitcoin, I started working with it, then gradually I grew up, some days ago I have almost 1bitcoin! But due to bitcoinn's pice decreasing, I gave sell my bitcoin. Now I have 0.14 bitcoin! After a few days I will buy some bitcoin! :D :D :

For now, i don't have any bitcoin or even just a chunk of it in my wallet but i do have some alternate coins that can be tradable in the market when time comes. But since im just new here, the total value of all my alternate cryptocurrencies that i earned from bounty campaigns into bitcoin will be less likely a .0XXXXXXX value. Well that's fine and fair enough because my rank is still too low.  

I think none of the member of this forum will not tell the truth of how many bitcoin they have. OR if there is more people who really have a bitcoin won't say the exact amount or quantity of bitcoin.

Yes when i first started i had 5k satoshi now i have 40k satoshi. I claim most of them from online faucets its not much but it is bitcoin. I hope that the prices will go over 10k so that i have a profit.

I had also some Litecoin, but i converted them to bitcoin. I see no future in Litecoin, but i see a future in ETH its like the next Bitcoin.

No more than 10 btc, but with that kind of value I'm very happy because the current bitcoin price is around $ 4300 and when I buy no more than $ 1200 so I earn a profit. I'll keep for a long time because I'm sure bitcoin still has hope of going up and more expensive again.

i am have less than 10 btc right now but i am still working to reach that amount first. i know it will need more time but i think i can do with many ways and i am sure that i can reach it. most of us is start from zero and i think from that zero, if we can trying the best we can then 1 btc or 10 btc or even 100 btc is not be a problem. its just a matter a time that will help us to reach that amount.

Well. I have now 50k satoshi from claiming from online faucets. I now have invested with the money i made from claiming faucets. I hope that i will make a profit i would then invest again.

In the beginning from claiming faucets it was nothing worth but if you do it a month a fully month you can have 1 euro lol.

I am confusing with the poll. Is the poll based on satoshi or bitcoin?? If based on bitcoin, i surprised there is person who hold around 1 million botcoin. Its such rich people.
But at the moment i have only 20000 satoshi. Hope will grow more next.

I have 1.5 bitcoins in my wallet which I am using in trading altcoins as I think that it is the best way to multiply my coins in quick time and I am also earning some bitcoins from signature campaign which I spend on paying bills or buying some basic stuffs and my goal is to reach to 5 btc till the end of the year and for that I am putting all my best efforts so that I can have more bitcoins in my wallet.

I currently own 1.36 btc in cold storage and 1.08 btc invested in alt coins valued at 1.18 btc obviously subject to change. Its not much but I am proud to own every little bit of bitcoin that I possibly can. I plan on investing more as my budget allows  :)

I only have bitcoin less than 10 bitcoin, I know new bitcoin in august yesterday, and I am very sorry to know that bitcoin play is very profitable and very suitable for long-term investment. I will buy as much bitcoin as I am able to stock up in the coming year later.

I don't have a single piece of Bitcoin but I want to save Bitcoin from this month. basically, I used to spend all of my Bitcoins for my daily life, but I have made up my mind to save Bitcoin for the future purpose. I believe that Bitcoin will be one of the most valuable currency in the future so that I have taken an initiative to collect Bitcoin.

I am still at less than 1 Bitcoin because of the fact that I am investing them to ICO and altcoins.  Though with the recent spike of Bitcoin price all my holdings (in altcoin) was a blood bath  lol.  Anyway I hope to convert these altcoin to Bitcoin soon but with this red mark, probably I need to wait until all are in profitable trend again.

I voted on <10. And <10 voter is high. I think maximum Bitcoin user holds <10 Bitcoin. Becuase now 1Bitcoin = $5000 USD, that means if one person holds 10 Bitcoin so he holds $50,000 USD. Just try to think that. That's why I think every Bitcoin holder holds BTC under 10.

I only have bitcoin amounting .03 btc right now. I am not a whale, I am just a shrimp in this industry. I know that there are many ways in accumulating btc and one of these is the signature campaigns and that is where I am accumulating mine. But if you will add all in all, all the bitcoin I received it is just .4 bitcoin. I am just a shrimp. :(
