Title: BitcoinXT and Gavin have my support.
Post by: Hexadecibel on August 11, 2015, 05:53:10 PM
For what it's worth as one of the VIPs here.

Further, due to recent censorship regarding BitcoinXT and discussion on using larger blocks on /r/Bitcoin I suggest users start using https://voat.co/v/bitcoin (https://voat.co/v/bitcoin)

Actions by Mods on Voat are free for everyone to see.

Count me in as well guys. :)
Increasing the blocks is inevitable. And I'm tired of this on going discussion.

Because Bitcoin XT is a fork, they move those threads to Altcoin board. If I want to have a conversation for altcoins I would open that subsection.

Well I hope they pull it out of the alt board once 8mb blocks have the majority of nodes and hash power...

Politics aside, I find this classification of XT as an alt pathetic. It unquestionably does have implications for Bitcoin and should be discussed as such. The varying mods are making themselves look like penises.

If I want to fork Bitcoin so it shoots popcorn out of my arsehole then I expect it to be debated by the people who are using it in its current form.

As far as I know XT is an alternative client. Just like Armory and all the others.
And when the majority is ready to use XT the fork will automatically happen.
And this fork will happen.Like it or not.

This is the best argument I've heard on these boards in awhile. I for one look forward to bitcoin shooting popcorn out of holes.

XT is the temporary clients between the core and XT whith Blocksize increased! XT is for accumulate the response from the public! If XT is adopted by the majority, it is the time to apply Blocksize increase!

due to recent censorship regarding BitcoinXT

Moderation is not censorship.  You don't have free speech rights on private servers.

Censorship would be the US govt or other authority seizing xtnodes.com, forbidding distribution of or running XT, and possibly sending Hearn to Siberia or at least putting him under a gag order.

XT is a mere 3% of the network, and that number won't grow just because histrionic Gavinistas start comparing theymos to Hitler (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1115016.msg12100059#msg12100059).

lucky you're in the alt section at all, if there was any consistency on btt, talk of bitcoinxt should be banned altogether just as btcs was.

Personally i'm perplexed to see Theymos is both owner of btctalk AND moderator for the reddit. That's not very decentralized is it?

You don't seem to understand what "decentralized" means.  Everyone is free to start their own forum and reddits.  The barriers to entry are astonishingly/vanishingly low, thanks to our present golden age of information technology.

Theymos inherited this forum from Satoshi, and he's not the only mod for the reddit (much less an admin or owner).

If I want to fork Bitcoin so it shoots popcorn out of my arsehole

NACK!

Uncertain if people will get that; pull requests (i.e. changes to Bitcoin) go through a sort of review process, with three short-hand codes used; ACK (I've tested and it looks good), utACK (I've read it but not tested, looks good), NACK (Nope)

Don't worry your pretty little head about XT.  It's a fringe group of dead-ender Gavinista fan boys controlling an entirely irrelevant 3% of nodes.

As for Satoshi stepping up and clarifying, here you go:

You're so butt burned about XT being exiled to the alt coin wasteland (where it belongs), I'm surprised you still post at this "epitome of authoritarianism" forum.

Bitcoin XTs Tor IP blacklist downloading system has significant privacy leaks. (http://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-dev/2015-August/010379.html)

they hid a sophisticated program which logs your ip even if you're on proxy or tor, and they add IPs to a blacklist and whitelist. It's not all objective, they can add people at will too. This is much worse than I ever thought, they can control every bitcoin user if they got their fork. It would end bitcoin as we know it. It's a horrible and disgusting abuse of Bitcoin

So OP, how's that BitcoinXT support working out for you?

...2 weeks later...

/r/bitcoin:  172,324 readers  446 users here now
/v/bitcoin: 4636 subscribers  ~28 users here now

So much for your social engineering attack on thermos and laughably inferior XT socioeconomic minority!   :D

It turns out most people know the difference between moderation and censorship.

Your demonizing attempt to shame thermos into doing what you want him to (by calling him Hitler, etc) is a giant fail on the scale of XT itself.
