Mem pool was insanely flooded and bigger blocks would be welcomed. That whole Bitcoin XT was such a scam in my opinion it was really publish like "this is the real bitcoin, get in fast, get double coin". Bitcoin is created to be a cheap solution to sending vast funds worldwide with insanely low fee. By increasing fee's in order to get confirmations, we are just giving spammers(which could potentially be big miners) a reason to increase/prolong the attack. when you use internet, you pay internet provider and modem system and ethernet cable and network card ... P2P network are NOT FREE OF CHARGE, they are FREE OF USE. P2P file sharing request upload to download, simple fact ... but P2P system don't restrict people, that's why "PAY THE FEES" is not a problem when you have a non-restricted thing.
