Avalon just present the Engineering test machine of their latest Home/office miner Aavalon 4 mini
it get lower W/G compare with antimer U3 , we will see how stable it is when it opening to sale,
We have not got the price information right now .

Very strange product to release at this point in time.

Very strange price they want to charge for it.


Judging by the specs at their website it will be around 0.4 W/G but not 0.6. Have you any detailed specs that could explain 0.6 value?

I would like to buy several units for a reasonable price. 30 USD for each of, for example, 5 units in one parcel + 50-60 USD for shipping. For fun and for office use.  ::)

That's not mini, that is micro. Who needs 30gh toy miner?

78GH at it's high setting.

 But unless they price it under $40 WITH shipping, forget ever managing to ROI it unless you're on free electric. Perhaps $50 if you have 3c/KWH or cheaper electric.

 Very late to the game with that generation of chip.

these are for free power situations.

My argument would be I like the white noise it makes I rather hear that then a radio.

Avalon, delivering hardware 6 months after the competition and massively overpriced since their very first machine.

Buy 500 of them and you get them for the bargain price $235 + shipping each.

I expect that once the OP has added on his profit margin and shipping they'll be $300 yeah sign me up why would I want an S5 for the same amount lol

I'd have to say this is more geared around alt coins?

Try finding a Bitcoin mining-compatible altcoin that's worth the bother that can't also already be merge-mined (like namecoin).  No Bitcoin mining gear is built around altcoins specifically, and hardware that is built for altcoins is incompatible with mining Bitcoin (e.g. scrypt hardware for litecoin/dogecoin)

I agree with you completely but still wonder why the effort for another overpriced toy really.
I can't see a hec of a lot of sales to make production effort worthwhile :/

The only alt coins worth mining, IME, are Scrypt, X11, and POSSIBLY SHA256 merge-minable coins like Namecoin. Everything else has way too small of a market to be worth wasting time on IME.

Packaged as they are, it's way better than a chili board, where I had a ton of wires and  a PC running the mining software. I previously bought chili at 0.75 BTC from MrTeal. Given the current date/time .. these are 2 years late and way more expensive for the controller and casing they come with..

I think they don't have a controller and plug into a usb 2 port.  so your pc or rasp pi is the controller.

but the pricing as shown by a screen shot of a letter to our fellow miner from Russia ------------- Rabinovitch  (Sp?)  makes them something I like but won't buy.

At 100 it would be over priced but slap to my mining pc point it at ck solo pool  and in a year or two maybe I get a block (not likely )  at 235 it is a no go.

that extra 135  in price =  45 months of mining it if I use 23 kwatts a month at 13 cents. 

I can buy an s-3 for 125  downclock it to 300gh and be better off.

Novak was just comparing this product to our Compac stick. With stock USB power, nine sticks (at $225) will run you about 75GH off about 25W and be dead silent. Or if you crank 'em on a decent hub you could do that with four sticks (at $100) and a light fan for about 30W. And the Compac is probably the worst dollars-per-gigahash miner currently being manufactured, because there's a separate VRM and USB interface and LEDs and oscillator and IO LDOs and heatsink per chip and it's still better than the Mini in every category except "has its own case".

I'd buy one of these boxes if it was about $50, mostly to play with. More'n $200 for it is retarded, when you could buy a pair of S3 with PSU for about the same and get twelve times the hashrate and similar efficiency and noise.

yeah wth are they smoking?  this price seems insane for such a novelty item, i was considering one or two for the office desk but screw that.. i just bought 2 Avalon 4.1's for the same price as 4 of these mini's

got them from holyscott @ holybitcoin.com, hes got them listed with a temp image of an sp20, but i can assure you they are avalon 4.1's

Real good guy too, have bought from him twice, great service.

yeah he has great communication, available at all hours (mostly) to answer any questions and such

With all due respect to you and Novak, I don't think the Compac has the worst $$$/GH ratio. On holybitoin, NEW Aavalon Nano 3 USB sticks are going for about $30. They are less than 5GH, so I think you are safe for the time being.

I don't know if that's factory-fresh or leftover stock from earlier in the year or whenever, but I did forget to consider them when considering other stick miners. Yeah we got the Nano beat pretty soundly.

I wonder if holybitcoin's prices for Nanos will change if he starts selling Compacs too...

Your ROI calculation once again doesn't take the halving in 2016 into account.  Nor the halving in 2020.  Nor 2024, 2028, 2032... ;)

I'm pretty sure devices like these are not meant for ROI and people understand that :)  I agree with others, though.. I'm not even seeing a novelty factor here that would warrant such a high price.

The price of bitcoin is the issue here. Avalon clearly thought BTC prices were going to the moon when they designed this little Gem here. A slight miscalculation.?.

What is going on with their site?  They offer the nano2 (http://ehash.com/product/avalon-nano2/) (undisclosed quantity) for 7.20BTC, and Avalon4 mini (http://ehash.com/product/avalon4-mini/) for 7.20BTC (undisclosed quantity).

I'm guessing webmaster snafu involving one price change (maybe to change the mini to multiple units, but forgot to set) and one copy/paste from the result of that :)

Would say it's more in the "lotto" mining area.  So special area of mining.

Lol, I understand that. But can't a person buy a used S3 for about the same price and play the solo mining lotto with 20 times the hashrate? This item makes absolutely zero sense (or cents)! Ah but I guess it is more efficient but that hardly justifies the ridiculous price.

I look at this and S3 as two different types.  S3 was to much for me to run lotto mining.

This is much lower watts.  I am not disagreeing on price.  Just cost of running.  My current "lotto" is running one of sidehacks usb sticks.  I do have it off at the moment though, so that is another project to get back up.

They are just showcasing it on website.  Showing what is to come, and share it with customers.

At that price it is not meant for sell.  And out of stock further confirms that.
