Title: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: doublec on June 03, 2011, 04:11:23 AM I've started a Namecoin exchange where you can buy and sell Namecoins (http://www.bluishcoder.co.nz/2011/05/12/namecoin-a-dns-alternative-based-on-bitcoin.html) for Bitcoins: https://exchange.bitparking.com
It's pretty new, only a few days old, but has had a few trades put through it. I'd appreciate any feedback for features and reports for bugs. Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: kiba on June 03, 2011, 05:46:56 AM Finally!
Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: interfect on June 03, 2011, 08:04:42 AM I might actually use namecoins now. How do I resolve them again?
EDIT: Maybe not. I tried to log in with my Google OpenID and got: Fatal error: /home/chris/src/ur/openid/src/ur/openidUser.ur:185:40-185:76: Login failed: Signatures don't match Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: doublec on June 03, 2011, 08:19:55 AM EDIT: Maybe not. Ok, I'm using myOpenID as well but not using delegation. I'll test with that.Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: shooter_mcgavin on June 03, 2011, 05:06:13 PM Everything went EXTREMELY smoothly for me. I signed up with my google ID without any issues and have made successful trades. Excellent work!
Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: darbsllim on June 03, 2011, 06:38:18 PM can someone tell me what the value in Namecoins is?
Brad Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: shooter_mcgavin on June 03, 2011, 07:07:35 PM Namecoin is the currency used to perform maintenance & register domain names for .bit addresses. It's the only currency that the system accepts (intrinsically) and is mined in the same fashion that Bitcoins are mined.
Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: bitanarchy on June 04, 2011, 05:50:16 PM I tried to login with my myOpenId account "http://bitanarchy.myopenid.com".
I had to turn on accepting third party cookies, to get around a cookie error. After that, I got this: Fatal error: /home/chris/src/ur/openid/src/ur/openidUser.ur:264:28-264:63: Username not found Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: doublec on June 04, 2011, 06:09:33 PM I tried to login with my myOpenId account "http://bitanarchy.myopenid.com". Can you try signing up again? The lack of accepting the cookie in the first place may have prevented it from going through. I don't see a record from that openid url. If OpenID isn't working for you, please just change to a simple username/password system.Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: doublec on June 06, 2011, 08:09:23 AM Your site is good, but if your users can't log in it's useless. If OpenID isn't working for you, please just change to a simple username/password system. The OpenID stuff is definitely a bit of a pain at the moment. I'm trying to track down the issues. Part of the motivation for writing the exchange was to stress test the implementation of the language/framework I used to build it. It's done a good job of that in parts. I've tweaked the OpenID a bit again and would be interested if anyone see's the 'Signature didn't match' again (may require deleting existing browser cookies for the exchange site).Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: Sukrim on June 06, 2011, 08:28:05 AM Just to make sure if I got it correctly:
Difficulty in BTC and NMC is calculated exactly the same? This means I can easily calculate how many NMC I would mint instead of BTC and using the conversion rate, if it would pay off... :) Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: doublec on June 06, 2011, 09:02:53 AM Just to make sure if I got it correctly: Yes. So namecoin difficulty is currently 2815.22139486. Bitcoin is 434882.72174970. So based on diffculty 1 namecoin is worth 0.00647 bitcoins. Namecoins do have intrinsic value in that they can be used to purchase namecoin domains so that may affect the price somewhat. The high on the exchange is 0.009 and the low is 0.006 at the time of writing this.Difficulty in BTC and NMC is calculated exactly the same? Maybe also have a look at http://bitcoincharts.com/about/exchanges/ to integrate in their charts - might give you quite a boost. In the NMC<->BTC exchange the currency being bought/sold is namecoins. If so, your order didn't take into account the fees. Click the "Calculate" button and it'll tell you how much to take into account for that. If your balance has the order subtracted from it but it doesn't show in your list of orders then the trade went through immediately.just trying to get my namecoins converted to BTC Title: Re: Namecoin <-> Bitcoin Exchange Post by: 420 on July 30, 2012, 09:19:29 AM put a sell order for namecoins on BitcoinParking, but I don't see it on the sell list Does your balance still show your namecoins? I notice it disappears after it's used, but can it still be funded? I notice it disappears after it's used, but can it still be funded? The instructions still are very clear "Deposit: Please note that each address created can only be used to receive coins once.". So it is valid until a deposit is made. But then no longer.
