As previously stated HERE (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=983370.msg11889868#msg11889868) in our Bitcoin Penny™ commemorative coins thread, all Bitcoin Penny™ commemorative coins are designed to be minted as coin-turn, where the back side is struck upside-down. This is also referred to as "coin alignment," and is the traditional way of striking most coin currencies. Unfortunately, due to an error at the mint, our last shipment of coins was accidentally struck as book-turn, where the back side is NOT struck upside-down. This is also called "medal alignment." In order to recognize the error, this MS67-rated ANACS coin slab clearly states "medal alignment." While we cannot guarantee that the error in any way enhances the value of the coin, we thought it might be pretty cool to get a few of them professionally graded.

The available coins are ANACS #4859295, #4859296, #4859297, and #4859298.

UPDATE: We've decided to release these graded error coins via BitcoinTalk AUCTIONS only. (See our last auction HERE (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1139098).) We think it's more fun that way. Thank you.

Please feel free to ask questions.
Thank you.

Regards,
Christopher @ The Bitcoin Penny Co.

How many of these "errors" exist in total? Just the ones listed here and the one sold @ auction?

Do you mean how many were minted? That particular order was for 1,000 coins. Most were sold, with the majority in the Short Rolls and Limited Edition Rolls. Maybe ~100 were used for promotional purposes only. And we still have a few of the 2-Packs left in stock as well as one or two Short Rolls, I think.

However, if you mean how many were graded by ANACS, then we've only submitted five (5) coins to ANACS. We may send a few more (5-10) next month, but that would be all.

Regards,
Christopher

I think he means how many "error" coins exist in total, graded or otherwise. I'm also curious as I'm not familiar with these either.

You mention 1000, were they all aligned wrong?

Thanks! :)

Yes, they were all aligned wrong. The batch before that was correctly aligned, and the next batch (I'm told) will be correctly aligned too.
