Thanks for the question, because Venezuela is the country with the biggest inflation on earth and we wanted to create a currency that will survive such inflation and make it longer to mine, you can mine this coin for more than 50 years and also the population factor, Venezuela its a nation where its population grows at a big ratio, and when the second halving occurs in aprox 5.5 years, this coin should be more stable than the Venezuelan currency.

Yes, i launched bolivarcoin about a week ago, but it got many msg saying that i should announce it first and set an official launch date, i guess to people to prepare, and learn about the coin and set up pools, etc.
And because of this i announce on tweeter and other social media that please stop mining because the coin will be relaunched.

The coin we will be launching on  29/08/2015 its a totally different coin, aspects are different, more nodes to support the network, a blockchain, etc, and soon we will have an exchanger were to exchange coins for others, etc, this is now an organize project that its looking into the future.

So please if you are mining the old vertion of bolivarcoin please stop.
also the source on github will be updated with the new one after launch

The problem in todays climate is in order for a country to make a profit they have to reduce costs, reducing costs means reducing labour, this means unemployment, but these cheaper goods are better for export which means other countries will have greater unemployment and poverty if they cannot match the same cost reduction. Money is being used as a weapon rather than a tool for good.

Advice

My advice would be to get as many people involved from Venezuela with this coin as possible, the reason being in legal terms there must be so many people involved with the currency in the native country if the coin is indicated to be of or from a country, e.g. if Spaincoin wasn't created by a team that at least involved a number of people that live in Spain, the coin could be legally enforced to be taken offline.

I will hopefully set up a full node here in the UK, i have also bought 10,000 to hold, so that there is potential to distribute to poor people in the country should there be a move towards financial investment into Bolivarcoin by government and business.

Keep up the good work. Remember the one thing that they cant steal is knowledge, it's by far the most important commodity :)

Spaincoin died with Cryptsy, but Pesetacoin (the other spaniard coin) was close to death several times with delisting warnings on Bittrex.

But, totally agree we need to get as many locals as posible.
Personally I've tried to promote it between my venezuelan friends but they still dont trust bitcoin enought to trust BOLI  ;D

On 1st March I downloaded Boilver wallet, and on 1st March I downloaded the Bithire wallet...

On 3rd March 0.15 BTC (the entire contents of my Bitcoin wallet on that machine) was sent to the following an address 1xoz..... so stolen then :(

I have installed Bolivar wallet this week and I have not been stolen.

It would be fine to have more people commenting on this.

I think that what is happening is;

- people are sitting as nodes on networks and checking to see what IP addresses are connecting to coins
- then they are looking for vulnerabilities in a persons operating system, and then running remote scripts to get access to bitcoin directory
- looking for unencrypted wallets

So with that in mind, it seems that it is a vulnerability if you have a hot wallets/staking wallets if you do not have enough security protection.

Just thought I would bring it up, it was after i downloaded and synched BitHire and Bolivar, although a compromise could have happened at any time, it was just the transaction date was 03/03 to an unknown address.

Everyone should therefore encrypt wallets, store most coins in an offline (cold) store, and only move to a hot wallet on an isolated secure machine when in use.

When difficulty is very low even a low cpu get blocks each 30 seconds, when difficulty goes too high no one even good gpu cant get blocks for hours or days then the chain stop.

Electrum servers tend to experience a prolonged downtime due to a massive inflow of users. If you stopped pinging it for an hour or gave it a little more time to rest it would go online. Ah wait, your problem is that don't know the server IP. Try to ping Electrum from the console and you will receive a lengthy message in which an IP of that server will be included.

I think this is an issue that has destroyed some coins already.

Somebody hacks the network and prevents blocks, then releases a bunch of blocks that they created, all at once, basically hijacking the network so they can mine all the coins.

If that is happening here the coin will be useless once it is clear the network has been hijacked. If you notice no blocks for an extended period, then suddenly blocks appear that were mined during the period when no blocks were mined, the coin is probably finished.

Yes this is the worst and the most corrupted government that we've ever had. Well that is my opinion. They know that if we go to popular election they'll lose. Very honestly, it's not as clear as it seems, the same game has been going on for a long time. I do not support that politician, nor any other, but it is important that his opponents, including you, understand the role that larger countries play in yours. You have a lot of oil, and other resources, and so other countries come in and meddle with the economy to manipulate the public and drive it towards a certain outcome.

The solution is not this or that politician, or this or that political system, it is independence from the control of others, a voluntary participation. When each person can choose which currency they want to use, based on whatever reason they like, with no hope from gangsters of meddling or using guns to enforce financial terms, then there will be more liberty and more responsibility.

Regarding the specifics of Venezuela, I'm reminded of a video about a guy who worked for the U.S. govt in Latin America and elsewhere https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJtETngpe6M but every large government does stuff like that, no different Russia, U.S. China or any other country. The people running around like mice getting shot pay the price but always at the end of the day the rich person wins.

Chavez probably had a fair idea about foreign intrusion and wanted to limit that. But he was a bit simple, naive, and it was easy to make him look like a demon.

You must know about Nicaragua, which was in a similar situation. The U.S. turned Nicaragua into a little prince state, controlled the leadership and the economy. Then the Sandanistas tried to stop that but they were kept in check by people like the guy in that video. Nowadays, with internet and so on it is difficult for government gangsters to operate so overtly.

Nigeria is a country, like Venezuela, that has loads of oil. American and British oil companies took over the country, controlled the leadeship and politics etc. A famous case was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Saro-Wiwa He was interfering with the oil companies and the politicians they owned, so he was killed. That case still has not been fully investigated. There are many, many people like that throughout the third world, but as I said, the internet is forcing things to be more subtle, more discreet.

I have ubuntu 16.04 and made symbolic links for the libraries which are not found in 'ldd Bolivarcoin-ubuntu' but when I try to execute the binary after all libraries are eventually found I get:

Please follow up with them and be sure to follow their instructions and submit the info that they ask for.  I've seen this time and time again with other coins where the developers get into fights with Cryptopia (or whatever exchange) over this or that, and the coin gets delisted.  They do know what they're doing-- have been working with them for years.  Stay calm, ask how you can *help them* get things going, and I know that they will try to assist. If whoever's communicating with them is like WHY HAVEN"T YOU GOTTEN BACK BLAHBLAHBLAH!!!!! then they are not going to put Bolivar at the top of the list to work on.
