Title: Promoting a Bitcoin business
Post by: CryptoBargains on August 16, 2015, 12:15:24 PM
Hey there,

I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable posting to a newbie section since I'm far from being a newbie with Bitcoin, but I need some advice.

I've recently started a Bitcoin business and want to know what's the best way of promoting a newly established Bitcoin store? Buying paid ads is not an option - most prices are unreasonable for a start-up, deliver no guarantee and I'd be much happier paying affiliates for their referral links instead. Any suggestions where to start? Thanks!

Best way to get your name out there would be starting a topic here in the forum and then start an ad campaign in bunch of websites. 1 bitcoin on mellowads will make sure anyone who is someone in bitcoin society will know you are out there. Maybe not enough but definetly worth every penny.

Looks promising, probably will give it a try! Thanks!

Any other suggestions?

If its related , find a review website and get a review , if you trust you are good it might help with people coming in.

Also , with EVERY site same answer : SEO

I would suggest looking for directory sites and places worth lists of places that accept bitcoin. Adding a site to a directory is usually free and can get you traffic. I used to use directory sites back when I ran an online adult store and had some luck with it.  One I found really quickly is https://www.coinpayments.net/store-directory

Also as someone said above, make sure you're site is SEO. Also ading a blog to your site that you add quality custom content into will help your search engine rankings, usually.

advertising in the bitcoin world is not really expensive. check a-ads.com rates for example. what's your product?

Just keep in mind that you need to have targeted audience, just like in any other business. For this reason, i would suggest you choose any of
the related options; forum auction ads, signature campaign, or any of the advertising services that are targeting bitcoin audience.

cheers

you should advertise your business on bitcoin related forums, for example here in the services section you can introduce your service. also reddit/r/bitcoin or similar subs that might be relative to your service might be a good place for promoting your service.
as long as the prices are competitive and you sell products that has any customer you can be successful

I'd be curious to know about the profitability of forum ads (the ones that are auctioned off). I've always wondered. Signature campaigns can be pretty cheap to run, although it has it's drawbacks -- signature spamming/low quality posting that can be sometimes difficult to detect without manually checking on participants on an ongoing basis. But for a lurker like me, I have to say that it's been effective on me for getting names out there.

I can tell you for sure that without money it is impossible to arrive in some way. So if you want to have customers you need to invest in publicity (any kind of publicity). You think that the people will know itself that you have established a Bitcoin store? But how? With the holy spirit?

So, I suggest to find marketers and to pay those to find your customers. They are specialists in finding people interested to buy things. It will cost you some money but it is worth I think.

Each business will be different but its impossible to tell how profitable any sort of advertisement is, but what it does do is get your name out there which you should concentrate more on rather than just trying to turn a profit in the first month which likely isn't going to happen. I think signature campaigns can be cheaper and give you much more exposure, though.

You can try to promote through social networks: Twitter, facebook and reddit.

For twitter you need to start to follow crypto related profiles and get some appropriate followers.
For facebook, you'll need to connect with the right groups.
As for Reddit. if your business will deal with other cryptos you better advertise it through /r/cryptocurrency

and you can start a signature campaign in the forum...

In your shoes i would start a service announcement thread in the matching subforum on bitcointalk.

You don't want to pay ads you said but i would suggest it. Simply do it cheap. The advantage would be that you can check out if the traffic coming from that sources is converting. You drop the ones that don't convert and keep the converting one, so you can scale up your sales.

Then, if you want to spread the love a bit further by spending money, you can contact carra23 or any other signature campaign overseers and ask them to create a campaign. Then users will be paid for promoting your website on the forum.

Third thing would be to take part in the auction for adspace on bitcointalk directly.

I think bitcointalk is an ideal place for your matter.

Besides that... i have heard bitcoiners had great success by contacting websites related to bitcoin and checking out if advertising there is worth it. So brings something back.

It's hard to say if you don't provide a budget you would like to spend for advertising. I've got some experiences with different advertising channels with crypto-related sites and there are ad spaces starting at 0.01 BTC a week to 7 BTC a week. So there is surely much room to make advertising, also for startups.

Twitter & reddit is the most efficient in my oppinion, because you dont need any followers to do so, its basically massive advertising for free.

In reddit use the  /BITCOIN or /CRYPTOCURRENCY or /ALTCOIN sector to advertise.

In twitter use #BITCOIN #CRYPTOCURRENCY #BTC hashtags in your tweets to advertise.

Good luck!

What type of site is it? This is pretty much a necessity to help find your best course of action.

Join twitter and follow all the bitcoin related people on there. Some will follow you back. Don't spam, but promote your website in a way that is useful to users. You can also use facebook.

I like the design and the setup! But first of all, I'd make sure all your content is right. For example, your FAQ (http://cryptobargains.com/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=4) is empty. These things show pretty poorly to potential customers.

So can I assume that this site did not make it to far?? I went to the website link and it said YOU HAVE BEEN HACKED with a bunch of bs letters and numbers.  I did not see the point in this.  Please update me as to what happened.

Can you also take on gaming sites (non-BTC)? If so, I might be interested in this...

If you want to promote your business for free you are in tough spot really. There are always social media where you can catch some attention.
But your best bet is probably launching small scale signature campaign here on Bitcointalk, you can advertise this way for a week to test if that boost your shop recognition.

Me and my team have a startup company about bitcoin. At first we wasn't sure how to promote it but for me best way to promote your bitcoin business is press releases. This is how you can gain some traffic some word-of-mouth and recognition.
