I think they can't become one country, since both side have different ideology and reign system. This situation is not good for them, but there is no country even UN could solve their problem. Or north korean regime will fall. I hope they will become one country again. The North Korean regime might fall in case of a war. But millions of civilians and military personnel will be killed in the conflict. There is a chance that nuclear weapons will be used. The South Korean and Japanese economies will be reduced to rubble.
