I have been throwing around this idea since ASIC's first came out, we are officially opening our idea out to the public.

Try to eliminate the DC/AC converter.  The miners' PSUs will just convert the AC back down to DC anyway, and now you're incurring losses in two conversions.  Research options to feed the DC straight (or buffered) into the miner.

To the OP, how long did you wait until deciding to you use solar power?

The mining machines run off electricity...they don't care where that power comes from. So the best power source to use is the cheapest available, solar or hydro make great options if one can handle the high up-front investment. I'm surprised people haven't talked about this more and I would not be surprised if many people have been mining with solar power for a long time.

It's not an innovation on how to mine, you know?

I use solarpower to break my peak KW during daytime. My energy costs have been lowered by 25-30%.

My few tips to better ROI your solar miner (I got them from someone who is in that business):

  • Dont use any batteries (saves your project 1000 bucks) they are dead after 1-3 years
  • Try to get used solar panels which are above the promised 10% power degradation within 10 years (not older than 2-4 years. Because the first owner gets new panels for free - a bunch of those secondhands are hard to get but very cheap 75% off) saves you a lot of money also
  • Get a better inverter (500 and above -> more money but less trouble)

A ROI is possible after 2-4 years -even without mining.

It's a cool idea, although I've seen that idea before. But this one is simpler and cheaper :D
Maybe you could make a Solar Mining Product in the future ;)

Why would people use solar power? I just bought a pc, hooked it up behind my workdesk at my office... Free bitcoins + no power bill! :D
