Title: I'm John Fitzpatrick and I want to purchase this forum.
Post by: JohnFitzpatrick on August 22, 2015, 09:17:29 AM
From the desk of John Fitzpatrick,

My name's John Fitzpatrick from Portland, OR. Maybe you've heard of me. Maybe not. (http://www.oregonlive.com/education/index.ssf/2015/08/post_28.html) Doesn't matter. I wish to purchase this forum. Who's the Cheesehead that I need to talk to to consummate the deal? I'm willing to pay upwards to a hundred billion dollars for it.

Thank you in advance,

John Fitzpatrick.

Seriously? Obviously, you don't know whom you're dealing with here, bud: http://www.oregonlive.com/education/index.ssf/2015/08/post_28.html

He currently runs Exascale Power Co., a high-end computing company involved in the Bitcoin business. In a filing with the SEC, Exascale lists its address as 1819 S.W. Fifth Avenue, No. 211, which happens to be a UPS store inside the Portland State Student Rec Center.

There! Put that in your crack pipe and smoke it. Now, who's the Cheesehead runnin' this joint so that I can buy the place? I also have my eye on a venerable entity in the Philippines if thier willing to sell it.

It can only be purchased with bitcoins. I suggest you go ahead and buy a hundred billion dollars worth of bitcoins right away, now that price is extremely low.

Sorry I think the forum has enough funds to continue on without you and any of your money (which I think OP has none of because he isn't Fitzpatric).

This is an interesting post that I just happened to stumble upon. How is it that you know this dude isn't John Fitzpatrick? Do you have access to IP logs of this forum. Strange how I just got done posting about him then this account was created, eh? It's almost looks like you created it. Hmmmm!

Not theymos is not really unknown. His real name had been mentioned here several times. Also on reddit as far as I know.
So only Satoshi is still not known who he/she/they is/are.

However the forum is not for sale.

Wow! This is fuckin' amazin'! Somebody, maybe it was I  ::), created the John Fitzpatrick user account to bring awareness to this dude's madness, starts a thread in discussion, with now those banking off sig campaigns weighing in, albeit I ( ;D) appreciate thier bumps.

Hashnest is owned by Bitmain and sends you the physical miner when unprofitable, seems like that cloud mining is not a scam to me.

Really? Making a post like that because of my signature? Yeah I enjoy the free .1 btc every month big deal, if I make an extra 1.2 BTC a year it's just more for me to invest.

None of that changes my point about cloudmining with Hashnest.

Well, I get that explains the red-ass toward me, eh?

You will never be able to buy the database and scripts unless you are satoshi which theymos respect. I recommend you to start a new bitcoin forum with your 100 million dollar.

No one took his seriously you are just assuming that, We all know he was trolling, Not a single billionaire would be stupid to make a post about this. BTW nice way to boost signature campaign post's   ;)

jajaja i think this forum should have a new subforum or something like that called "Jokes & Trolls", im  pretty sure that in few days that subforum will be fully of post :P

someone should move this thread to off-topic or any other subforum since this have nothing to do with the bitcoin world.

btw @John Fitzpatrick, good luck with your joke...

If somebody wouldn't have missed the short bus, they would've realized that "joke" reference was directed toward me with this thread. A simple read of the posts between the reply and OP would've provided a Blue's clue.

Au contraire!

The Bitcoining of the $5 trillion Foreign Exchange Market (http://nextbigfuture.com/2014/02/the-bitcoining-of-5-trillion-foreign.html)

Quote
John Fitzpatrick and his partners are planning to spend $50 billion and use a gigawatt of energy to power an Exaflop computer data center to game the $5 trillion foreign exchange market. Foreign exchange markets are 500 times bigger than the Bitcoin market. Foreign exchange affects the price of goods and services imported and exported to other countries. Foreign exchange manipulation will affect the price that you pay when you go to buy stuff at Walmart or other stores. Gaming this system will affect what is in your wallet and bank account.

Technically it seems the plan is sound, but it is in like the Bitcoin mining arms race applied to Foreign Exchange. Bitcoin miners would get progressively more powerful computers to capture financial gains in the Bitcoin market. Previously high frequency and computer traders would use less powerful supercomputers to direct their market trading.

Now one of the players is going nuclear in the financial computer arms race.

http://www.kgw.com/story/news/local/2015/08/21/100m-donation-portland-state-university-doesnt-show-up/32122423/ (you gotta watch the video - this guy has con written all over him)

Quote
On Monday, August 17, as more information came to light and no money was received, PSU canceled the planned announcement and notified the governor, the mayor and The Oregonian. In retrospect, PSU should have taken more time to review his offer. We are assessing our internal procedures to ensure this remains a one-time occurrence."

KGW News interviewed Fitzpatrick Friday at his Portland residence, and he told the station that he still intends to make the gift in the near future.

And that's how you bring awareness to Bitcoin to the governor of Oregon, the Portland mayor, and The Oregonian.

It should be relatively obvious that the OP is trolling. The link the OP posted identifying himself is an article discussing how someone named John Fitzpatrick offered to donate $100 million to some universities foundation despite him having a history of insolvency. The university did not catch this for quite a while and had planned a ribbon cutting ceremony and everything (which is similar to what has happened with several people in this thread).

Furthermore, the forum is not worth anywhere near $100 billion, especially considering that the forum only generates roughly $25,000 worth of revenue per month, and that the market cap of bitcoin is only ~$3.5 billion.

Ergo, there's a crazy fuck out there in the wild givin' Bitcoin a bad rap. Look at how he already fucked the town of Pryor, OK, then, thanks to his pastor, is in the process of fuckin' Joplin, OK, with his Bitcoin ruse, that after leaving New Mexico spewing his shit that first involved Portland, OR, unrelated to the recent university endowment episode.

Well people in the Bitcoin world tend to check facts slightly more often so such a scam would be unlikely to gain any credibility. Plus I would be doubtful that theymos would be willing to sell the forum for any price.

Also the OP is almost certainly not who he claims to be ::)

Buy this Forum? Interesting, what are you offering?

We'll need to take your offer to the committee for further discussion.

Note that this forum operates as a Cooperative, meaning that every member has an ownership stake so payment will need to be made to each member, directly and that each payment will need to be agreed upon by each member. We have a fairly simple system for you to conduct the process, which we can discuss once the final price is agreed upon.

Please submit your offer in terms of gross payment to the creator and administrators as well as the additional payments that will be made to each member.

Thanks.

Nice joke. I am a member and there is like a hundred or two active member monthly. So if 100b/100 member it would be like millionaire.

If you are what you claim to be I claim to be the owner of this forum :) we can seal a deal as long as we dont have to give proof of each other's identity. You start sending money to my account (pm to you), I will start the ownership transfer :0 ;D
