Title: Where can I find information on block size discussions?
Post by: TheMage on August 23, 2015, 04:17:12 AM
Yes yes I know, I'm going to get crucified for asking such a silly question where 1/2 of the threads on the front page are discussing it. The problem is that I've been researching for weeks and have yet to find a *gasp* centralized location for the pros and cons of raising the block size (without reading thousands of posts on the subject).

I ask because I am writing a paper and plan to submit it to the Montreal Scaling Bitcoin workshop, and I want to ensure that I get as much information as possible in an unbiased manner. Thank you

PS Maybe this thread can serve as an information collector for others as well? Without taking sides on the discussions at hand of course.

Hmm. Well code change limited to block size is pretty simple if you read a couples you might get some grasp on it. But anyhow, most accept that eventually we will have to raise the block size. The cons is bandwidth increase for people on dialup. Maybe lower mining fee. Pros is room for transaction rate growth and faster tx confirmation in a way.

Most of the discussion isint about blocksize. Its against XT since they include code not related to block size.

The block-size issue is being widely discussed by smart people coming up with inventive solutions. A number of new ideas have been proposed, while it’s also possible to combine different solutions into new proposals. You can find block size discussions in this form at different threads.

There was a "primer" article posted over on coinbase about it.  I found it a worthwhile starting point.
