Imagine yourself without technology, what could you have been and what's doing?

In this day and age, almost every single person uses technology in some way, shape or form to make life easier. Today every second person using smart phone and every fifth has a tablet. That means that we’re online more than ever before, whether it’s to call a friend, check a train time, book a holiday, pass the time, or even save a life. In conclusion, technology has affected our lives deeply. We simply cannot imagine living without it. It has increased our lifespan and quality of living. It has brought us closer to each other in certain ways and drifted away in others. Without it, our lives would have been simpler, harder, poorer, isolated, unimaginative, disconnected and dangerous ;)

Konce time ago there was life without technology and it was quite normal. But todays world depends on technlogy and we can't go back anymore. You can't turn back time.

Probably, if I still got me some Bear Grylles knowledge, making a knife out of flint and a spear to stab fish with.
Life now without technology is probably a death wish.
Humans have strayed too far from eat, sleep and survive, not that that is bad, but realistically we rely on other humans to give us food to eat, get us to hospital to survive and a few underpaid asians making memory foam to sleep.

A life without technology is like a life without enjoyment. TV(s), speakers , mobile everything is dependent on it.

why would you do that? She is your mother, she has her own privacy that she can't share with you. I can't understand why would you do that, it is just sick :))) Maybe it was just a joke, but it was a very sick one man :)))

A life without technology would be a very difficult one, because there wouldn't be any kind of electronic appliance, no computers no mobile phone nothing. So we would live in a world without any kind of devices, cars and many other things. That sounds like stone age :)

technology can mean anything from internet to stone axe.

There isn't nearly enough food to sustain the current population without modern farming technology, and even if there were, there's no way to move that food to the hungry masses without modern transportation. If all technology were to vanish, probably 95% of the world population would be dead within a week.

I think it's boring especially when we grew up to the generation that full of technologies.

Yes for sure it is going to be a great test, but just a small number of us can do that. Maybe this is possible if you are on an island far away from any technology products. That way you will be forced to live without them, and maybe you won't commit suicide if you have a sexy girl by your side :P

I think there are two sides we can consider if there is no technology
The positive side of living without technology is we can work and live independently.
Otherwise for the negative side is we will be burdened by a lot of things since nothing can help us to ease our works.

Life without technology is like a blind man who lives in the dark.
And it's like our body which loses energy.

I am sure I wouldn't have hated a life like that. Wouldnt have been different but not necessarily bad as there are lots of other things one would have done if technology wasn't there.

Nowadays, people are much too reliant on technology. Just imagine what happens if there's no electricity. Some can't deal with it.

I do not live without technology (Internet principally) Can confidently say that I've used the internet daily for the last 10 years at least.

I would be reading books, lots of books. Kinda left that hobby aside ever since technology kept evolving. I still read books, just not as much as I used to.

I think that they're talking about the technology in the recent years (e.g. laptops, PC, smartphones, etc.).
Life without technology would be even more pointless than it is now. Humanity has stopped striving for improvement, but has rather taken on a different approach where most of us try to just enjoy life (instead of improving it). Obviously technology has come with a lot of problems where you have almost a billion people addicted to social networks and similar services (e.g. VOIP). The downsides are real, and people are starting to become subconsciously afraid of being disconnected. The issue is really complicated and there are many aspects to look at (I just named one).

Wrong. Life is not about socialization. Being dependent on someone else is a weakness, a stain in our evolutionary process. Eventually humans will eliminate such needs though evolution (if we survive long enough).

It's a sad fact that I'm dependent on e.g. GPS? Makes sense to me. There are aspects of life that technology has made much more easier. There is no need to revert to the old.

I cant even imagine living in an era where there is no technology. Everything I have and whom I am today is because of the technology and its subsequent inventions. It has given me a great platform to be able to do what I love most at the comfort of my home. It has reduced the world into a global village. I know i will be busy hunting for jobs here and there if technology was not in place today. I will not be the same as I am today i bet.

Well, lets be honest but nobody can imagine the world without the technology, especially Internet Technology!

The whole world, especially the factories works on technology... So how can you imagine for example, Mercedes Benz to stop using their robots who are helping them to produce the cars and do the whole production by humans hands? :)

Or how about Google? I am sure that 95% of people who are work from their homes or have administrative function in their company use Google for searching some information. We can not imagine this world like that because, for the brain is normal to evolve and same thing is for technology.

The first time when humanity discover something it is normal to evolve and if we try to imagine the world without that, then we will be still living in Stone Age. :D

Very difficult if not impossible, People became so adapted to technology that it is hard to imagine life without it. in my country sometimes there are electricity outages and you see people sitting down and just waiting for it to comeback because they do not know what to do without it.

It did exists decades ago, if the OP meant technology of now like computers, smartphones and internet but yeah right now that kind of life can't exist.

Pleasant feelings come out, without technology we are busier as compare to some years ago, when the facility of Internet is not available, no phones, no messages, we are now living a commercial life now. There are so many advantages at the old time when technology did not prevail. Look at our young generation, some time ago it was a trend to go outside and play, involved in physical activities, but now usually children keep there self in rooms and play games on PS, computers or smart phones.
But simultaneously there are benefits of technology as well, we the world is now a global village. And we involve ourselves as a part of machinery.

Probably it will be the worst thing that can happen to you after life where you have fridge with computer sending you e  mail what you should need buy in a shop..People will need a lot of time to change their habits..now to make a fire? what to do with bathroom? make a shelter or some kind of house...preparing food, making clothes...

Do I feel like a better person for having smart phones and the internet? Hard to answer. I think I would be more productive and maybe happier without it. Billions of people got by fine in the past without it. Maybe school kids should be sent on tech free weeks to give them some space to breathe.

A life without technology is a life without the capacity to produce technology; in other words you'd effectively be like any other animal.  So there's no point in worrying about it, you wouldn't even have the mental faculties to contemplate it given the scenario were true.

It would essentially involve scavenging for food and water, and hoping that no stronger animals--of which there may be plenty, as you have no technology to defend yourself with--come to make a meal out of you.  Agriculture, controlled fire, even a measly rock tied to a stick: all forms of technology that you would have to go without.  Forget computers and telecommunication, those would've never been created in the first place.  Your entire existence would be "find food, find water, find nice climate", and if none were available, you'd migrate.  Can't bare cold weather, no fur and no clothes (another form of technology,) so you'd have to move where the weather was nice, like birds.  Except you'd have to leg it: no wings, no wheels.  Maybe you get lucky and find an area which is nice all year round, lots of water, lots of food.  So more humans start populating these areas, start coming in from other places on the planet, crowd it up.  They eat and they eat, multiplying the population, until all the food is gone.  With the food shortage comes starvation; your once mostly docile neighbors turn on you and eat you, or you eat them, or you migrate again and hope to find the ideal conditions once more, perhaps starving along the way, or dying from dehydration (can't take the water with you, containers don't form naturally, nor would you be smart enough to find any container-like object to use to carry with you.)  Maybe you wind up having to eat one of your kids to make the trip, assuming you bred; animals do it all the time.

Or maybe we're talking about a situation where humans had the capacity to implement technology but the world was in such extremely awful condition that nobody could actually use any of it, maybe like everyone's slowly dying from nuclear radiation.  That'd be pretty nasty too.  But it's a very simple feat to imagine a world without technology, just take a look at how animals live out in the wild.  That'd be you: just another dumb, barely sentient creature trying to survive and procreate, largely unaware of the nature of your own existence, living off pure primal instinct.

Anyway I prefer the time line where humans have technology.  The alternatives sound absolutely awful.

I think we would all eventually create some type of technology. We would find ways to make our life easier and tasks.
Much the same as we do today. So I think there would always be some type of technological advance in our life no matter what time period we were in.

Life would be very different without technology. I'm pretty sure half the people in the world would go insane, because they cant live without technology. The advantages would be a simpler life, no having to worry about people hacking accounts, no having to worry about E-mails. Other advantages would be less obesity because there would be no T.V and video games kids (and Adults would actually have to get up and do things). Now the disadvantages would be it would be hard to get in touch with others because there would be no phones, there would be no food in the stores. We would have to go back to living off the land, and animals. Really life would just be different, not bad, but not exactly good. Just different. :)

If there were no technology the whole world would collapse. Nowdays everything is based on technology, every field of our lives so it's very hard to imagine how it would be again like it was 50 or 100 years ago.

I would be Reading a good book. If you don’t know what book to read, go to a library, get some suggestions, browse the stacks, and just start somewhere.

Go to the park. Sit on a bench and read or just contemplate.

Take a course. Learn to cook. Learn a new language. Read a book and learn something you didn’t know or know how to do.

The only way anyone could ever be bored is if they are afraid and bored. Don’t be afraid.

Don’t be afraid to try new things and you will never be bored...

Youngs can't live without technology

Technology is not bad, if it is used to innovate and for enrichments of life.
But if it is used like many using it for selfies etc..

I love to record music, therefore I love technology. :)

There really is nothing like being out in nature and smelling the moisture on a mountain or the early morning dew.
If we have to go back to a more simple time,I think I can adjust and hunt those that do not for sport.

At that contemporary moment I would have been sleeping tight in some tree or a home made of husk or dried / rotten grasses with some palm leaves .  I would have been thinking to relocate or migrate to another area and so on .

We are doing most of things over internet nowadays.
(For example I signed on my university to take classes over internet, also appointed other things over internet, without internet i would need to go university every second)

I think this type of situation will not come in our life because all are addicted for posh life so life without technology it's ZEROO for me.

A lot of people would be literally paralyzed. If there would be no technology, people would be clueless what they would want to do with their life.

But how did people from the past able to survive even though there is no technology, if they survived I think we can also but as the times go by technology becames one of the important that people needs in our society it makes our life easier.

Most people's lives are so dependent on technology.  Social media and other forms of tech were suppose to bring people closer together, but in a lot of ways it isolates.

When your last pair of store-bought shoes wears out, do you go barefooted or automatically gain the know-how to make a pair of moccasins?

When your last store-bought bullet is spent, do you start making your own from scratch or wait for the bullet salesman to come by in his wagon to sell you more via bitcoins?

If living out in the wilderness, would you pine to live in some corrupt city to live out your remaining days, and likewise, if living in a corrupt city, would you pine to be living out in the wilderness so to have a better chance for survival. That's assuming you're single with no family to tend to, otherwise...

Next thing: dying due to lack of food.
Apart from the fact that city people (and that's about everybody by now) can't find their food in the wild, there is simply not enough food for so many people. No technology means no fertilizer, no plow, no knifes, basically back to before the stone age. I doubt even a million people will survive.

Imagine that society collapsed and you were fortunate enough to survive on your own or part of a small family. You're in the wilderness, deep or not so deep in doesn't matter as you'll see why in a sec. At some points during your existence, you create fire for cooking, warmth, etc. Fire has smoke that can be see from great distances. At those great distances are people who live off the likes of you, so they (plural) approach your camp with intent to take by force what they'd need to survive, and if you're lucky they (plural) don't consider sexual pleasure a necessity, thus opting to only silence your existence outright, then moving on to the next marks who also are non-nomadic. Scary, eh?

It would be hard since technology became a really important part of my life.
I would go out more often, spend more time on other hobbies, the problem would be more difficult communication. I cant imagine writing letters to friends from other countries.

I remember i was younger and in school, we had those restriction in electric energy caused by insufficiency in production. My country was under International sanctions. And we had restriction about 6 hours a day sometimes more this was hell. But very soon you adapts to those conditions and organize your life to those conditions..

Any technology whatsoever? So, nothing that's been built, nothing that's been invented... We'd be down to our fists and teeth. We would be pretty screwed. No fire, no created shelter... Maybe strength in numbers?
