Title: uTorrent Quietly Installs Cryptocurrency Miner Post by: KingZee on August 27, 2015, 06:01:39 PM uTorrent has been bought by the MPAA (http://libcom.org/forums/news/utorrent-bought-mpaa) and silently mines bitcoins for "charity" by quietly installing a program called EpicScale. (https://torrentfreak.com/utorrent-quietly-installs-riskware-bitcoin-miner-users-report-150306/) (link to EpicScale website (http://www.epicscale.com/)) It shows in Programs and Features, but does not actually uninstall when you try to uninstall it through Progs&Features. Somebody posted a warning about EpicScale in the uTorrent forums, but the mods of the uTorrent forums deleted it. Beware!

Since then all uTorrent users that read the news have migrated to something else. qBittorrent was the choice I liked and I use now. |
